Re: Cows kill woman

Of course it is the right of a farm owner to put his cattle and Im talking calves at foot on his land, behind a fence where they will do no damage and if we go in then basically deserve the consequences HOWEVER, It is not the right of a farmer to put his cattle with calves at foot onto NTS land and ...

Re: Cows kill woman

I posted earlier about basically bricking it coming back down off a hill which was part of NTS property and discovered it filled with coos and calves and being well aware of the risks. My point is why we have to do it because its clearly dangerous, has caused death to people, not just injury, so why...

Re: Cows kill woman

Many a Scottish farmer/land owner is reaping the benefit of much tax relief to allow paths that are paid for by the NTS ( a charity supported by us) and taking advantage of the financial gain. What they seem to forget is that in Scotland we have a right to roam. He/she/they are putting Bulls and cow...

Re: Ben Donich + dog = ok?

Im not sure why Kevsbald has offered comments that dont really have anything to do with the post. BUT its an open forum so if what he has to say makes good reading then fine.
Its not my scene.

Re: Ben Donich + dog = ok?

I just made a comment on a recent post about dogs and mentioned that I bought a special harness for my old dog. Im not sure if Im allowed to mention the make of it but there is a company called Ruffwear and they make harnesses that can enable you to assist your dog over awkward bits. Ill stress now ...

Re: Dog's First Munro

Congrats to your "dug"! My dogs are great company for me although my oldest who is now 17 finds it a wee bit tough on some hills. I have had to leave him a couple of times but I did recently purchase a special assistance harness that has a handle (bit like a suitcase) and good lead that al...

Re: Litter sinners

Aye its a bad state of affairs BUT, better to just pick up the litter and say nothing. Unfortunately you can be putting yourself in a vulnerable position if you tackle the ignorant gits these days

Re: Buchille Etive Mor & Beag

I did Beag today and had a lovely day but I was there early and away. Late for this reply but if the forecast is good then nothing to stop you doing Etive Mor tomorrow?

Re: Skye - company welcome

Cracking place. Carbost Inn for good food and doon the road, the Glen Brittle campsite with some lovely walks around there. If you decide to go for a guide up some of the mountains and the weather favours you, Tony Hanly who is a mountain rescue guide and SARDA dog owner was brilliant. I know there ...

Re: Rucksack help!

I needed a two man tent as I needed room for my dogs and initially started out carrying a 2,5 kilo tent. Despite me carrying it alone, with dog food (well they gotta eat!) It was heavy. It does take a wee bit of getting used too but you will! (Thankfully lighter as they are!) I splashed out and got ...
