Re: The Captains Road -Access restrictions

The Scottish Woodlands spokesperson's statement about "liasing...to try and resolve the issues" is in conflict with "these (access) rights have not been restricted". If there's no restrictions surely there's no issues to resolve?

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Who moved from K to S to D ? Could this be Chris Guthrie, the protagonist of Grassic Gibbon's A Scots Quair, who moved between three fictional places in Angus/Aberdeenshire in the three volumes of the trilogy? That is, from the village of K inraddie in Sunset Song, then to the town of S egget in Cl...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

The protagonist has been portrayed by VH (Scottish) and AD (not Scottish).

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Forth, Cromarty, Fair Isle, Hebrides, Rockall, Malin, Irish Sea. These are the only Shipping Forecast areas that border the Scottish mainland and/or islands. Rockall is questionable because Ireland has laid claim to it, although it has "officially" been ceded to Scotland. I think Sgurr des...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Do I even have the right word, as in Loch? Maybe everyone has diverted onto quordle.[/quote When I first started with Wordle I also started on other language versions (French and Gaelic) and the number version (nerdle) but what I do like about Wordle is that it only takes a few minutes and wakes my...

Re: Kinder Mass Trespass

I know that, quite rightly, WalkHighlands is apolitical but, that said, access to our open spaces has only happened as a result of hard fought political battles and, insofar as this one has been won, the 1932 Trespass should be commemorated. And we need to be constantly on guard against those who w...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Well done, DW was the 'Dickie Windmill' (or windpump as it should be called) which used to proliferate over the farming landscape, and ST was the Swath Turner or Hay Turner, which impressed Canadian manufacturer Massey-Harris ( MH ) so much that they started making it in partnership. William Dickie ...

Rohan is getting close. As a reward, here is a clue as to one of WD's products.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

I think I've made this too niche.

There are examples of WD&S work at the NMORL (formerly MOSCL) situated close by to their place of origin.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

MH should really be M-H and is (was) Canadian. There's a big hint to the subject matter in the previous clue.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

WD was also WD&S. Besides the aforementioned DW, they were also responsible for the HT, also known as a ST. This was so successful in its field that the much larger, non-Scottish, MH took it on board.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

WD was responsible for, among other things, the DW, a rare sight nowadays.
