Re: Wet feet on Beinn Ghlas and Beinn Buidhe

Now, that's interesting! I still have Beinn Bhuidhe to do (the last of the Arrochar Alps on my target list now), and I'd wondered whether it'd be possible to combine it with Beinn Ghlas for a wee bonus S2K Marilyn (and a rather remote and obscure one at that, which is always nice). Your report confi...

Re: Cruachan Horseshoe (12" Disco Remix feat. bonus Corbett!

Enjoyable report & photos, you had cracking weather too! Good on you for not ignoring the corbett either Aye, Beinn a'Bhuiridh was a real highlight! It probably added at least an hour and a half's time, but it was well worth it :D . Just sitting at work in my lunch hour just now, with the rain ...

Re: First Graham: The remote Beinn nan Lus

Aye, it's a really remote hill that one - well done for bagging it as your first  . The views look spectacular. I'd love to have a go at these two myself someday - it looks just about do-able with the aid of a bike and a long summer's day. I'm sure you'd have managed Meall Garbh too if the Cla...

Cruachan Horseshoe (12" Disco Remix feat. bonus Corbett!)

our_route.gpx It was Saturday, the sun was splitting the skies, I wasn't on-call for anybody and I had authorisation from my wife for a full day's walking ... unfortunately I neglected to buy a lottery ticket on the way back home from this wee outing, as I'd undoubtedly have won the jackpot  ....

Re: Loch Loch and Beinn a Ghlo

She is well named the grey one :D . I thought the low cover might clear off as the day wore on so took the good track and path out to the flank of Beinn Bheag .... I would agree good is in the eye of the experience ,if it was wet this path would be a fecker :D Aye, I can vouch for that! I did these...

Re: The snout without views

It looks a good walk for a cloudy day, that one, to be honest. You managed to get some good photies despite the cloud too :) - that's a nice one with the deer!

Re: Oh Starav Wonder, Starav Light! Three in Glen Etive.

Well done! That was a cracking effort and a very enjoyable report :D :D  I still have the second two to climb, as my day on Ben Starav proved only suitable to a single summit. A magical glen with wondeful hills :D It certainly is that! Although the Starav trio is arguably the finest outing, t...

Oh Starav Wonder, Starav Light! Three in Glen Etive.

our_route.gpx I was lucky enough to have a couple of midweek Annual Leave days, and I had been fantasising for weeks in advance about nipping quickly into a phone box, metamorphosing into my bobble-hatted avatar and bagging a few Munros :D . Specifically, I had never yet ventured into Glen Etive, a...

Re: Three Munros and a hefty dollop of stupidity

The summit was one of the most welcome sights to date. It ranks up there with Gary Barlow/Take That, Manchester 2011. Surely some exaggeration there - I can't imagine that the Monadhliadh ever get THAT exciting   ! Excellent effort there - that's certainly a big outing in New Boots :cla...

A very cauld Cauldcleuch Head on April Fool's Day 2013

February and March 2013 were a dead loss for me in hillwalking terms, due to a combination of crap weather and a busy time at work :( . By the beginning of April I was itching to get some sort of walk in despite the snow :-x . My old school friend Rowena, now resident in London, texted me to say tha...

Re: Beinn a' Ghlo lives up to its name...

maybe the Round Blisters of the Corrie were on the feet of the cartographer? That looked like you were fair enjoying your day out, and another three in the bag too. I think your suggestion there as regards the origins of the "Chruinn-Bhalgain" is a fascinating hypothesis, and quite possib...

Beinn a' Ghlo lives up to its name...

Although I’d managed a few lower hills since the start of the year, Scotland’s 2013 Fimbul-Spring had left my Munros tally stuck at a paltry 51 since early January :( , with snow covering the higher hills well into April and the thermometer constantly dropping to new record lows :wtf: . However, May...
