Re: Quick Ben Chonzie in the snow

Chonzie does seem to be really, really busy! It is one of our 'local' Munro's, and having walked or cycled up it with groups and family for over a decade, it seems to be overly busy these days. :-( Lovely wee hill though. I’ve done it from loch tay, guaranteed solitude until the summit! Glen turret...

Re: Getting started with snow hikes - courses, routes, kit?

Looks like I'm going to be doing a course in Feb. Definitely do the course first. Don't make kit decisions until you have tried some things out on the course and had some advice. Crampons - The included ones are 10 point but I see everyone recommends 12, which I could hire. Again seems straightforw...

Re: Resistance training, improving fitness for hiking event?

To get your totals which walks are you thinking of? You might struggle to meet your targets if you don’t do the obvious Munro rounds in the area and still have rest days.

Re: B1 vs B2 boots for winter mountain walking

I’d not bother unless you got a cheap deal on a set of b2s. Admittedly I wear b2s but only because I stockpiled them from a cheap deal.
Pair them up with some c1 crampons and you’ll be fine. My blunt grivel g10s have been used up to grade II winter routes.

Re: Beinn a' Bhreacaidh

Unfortunately it looks like the historical OS records were destroyed in ww2 so any documentation the OS had has been lost.https://scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/digital-volumes/ordnance-survey-name-books/perthshire-os-name-books-1859-1862

Re: Curlywee & Lamachan

I’m planning to do these hills by the Walkhighlands route and wondering if the approach is suitable for cycling. Looks like a good track but would be good to know from someone who’s been there. Also, is there anywhere to secure a bike before heading up the hills? It's a good track, gets used for a ...

Re: Two highly-prized Knoydart hills in a day

I’ve done this loop but in reverse. Descending Ben Aden was thought provoking at times, in the end we followed a deer off of the hill
Looks much better and safer your way round.

Well done, you can have a gold star.⭐️
It has a very well defined path for a Munro top. Probably for that reason.

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

What's the hill.
Bonus question, what's the significance of the hill where I am standing.

Over to you!

It's one of my favourites! The loop from the north is equally as good as the more common southerly approach,

Another festive clue. The left hand summit is often ascended via a short scramble
