Signal for attack

I first did this walk in September 2021 but didn't write it up as my camera was mistakenly on the lowest resolution setting. I decided I'd wait until I'd done the circuit again. November 2023 was the next opportunity and I grabbed what I thought would be a window in the rain on what turned out to be...

Re: Beinn Donachain

The colours in these photos are gorgeous. I wish I lived near enough to do this one. Up here we're enduring our fourth day in a row of fog that doesn't lift - unusual for Inverness. :o

Magical island

We were staying on the Ross of Mull with family and someone mentioned the possibility of going to Iona the next day. My ears pricked up. If they were planning an afternoon visit I could go over in the morning and meet up with them later. When I arrived at the ferry parking in Fionnphort the first ch...

Re: The Wonder of Ben Mor Coigach

Thanks Anne. Your photos are such a tonic on a cold foggy morning. I'm ashamed to say that partly due to the awkwardness of getting there I've not been on BMC and wonder if at my age I've left it too late. It sounds quite hard work but even to do part of it would be worth the effort. 8)

Heading for the fort

Lying a little to the south west of Whiteness Point is Fort George and Ardersier, both worth a visit and connected by a fine coastal path. Going by the photos from Boxing Day 2012 and New Year's Day 2024 it seems to be a walk we're drawn to around Christmas time. A fine amble for walking off the exc...

Mei sent this photo of the walk they did on New Year's Day at Godley Head, which is 40 minutes drive from Christchurch, New Zealand. We're delighted to see they're still getting out walking and just a bit envious of their sunshine!

It looks a bit like it - if the teen years don't put them off.

In awe of these kids who led the way

We were stir crazy after a day of heavy rain and the two older grandkids were keen for a walk. We picked this one because it fitted in with what their dad was doing. He could drop us off at the start point, go and do what he had to do, and pick us up after. It was clearly going to be wet underfoot a...

Re: The incredible power of awe - Sgor Gaoith winter summit

Awesome photos of a stunning place and what a come back for you! This is great on so many levels. Encouraging for others who've been plagued with long covid that there's light at the end of the tunnel. It just takes time.

Kilvickeon beach by long way round then did a daft thing

We wanted to reach our destination in daylight because we knew the last few kilometres were on a rough road. The name that appears on some maps is Tigh Beag but the main building is Saorphin Farm run by Chris and Erica who have done up former outhouses as holiday lets, Tigh Beag and Tigh Mhor. Loch ...

Re: Mussels on the ferry and a bonny castle on Mull

By odd coincidence, I did this walk today! I also had a very nice lunch at the Craignure Inn. Great photos - thanks for sharing. You had better weather than me - it was pouring with rain today. But I am not envious, because doing the walk in December, I got to see the magnificent Craignure Outdoor ...

Thanks for the info. Sounds a useful kind of ship to have around.
