Re: Penvalla from Stobo

Thanks @prog99 for reading and the suggested route. Looks interesting but a bit far for my short legs.

Return to Bishop post lockdwon

First trip up Bishop, post lockdown. Went through the gap in the trees and then back up the road to the sphere for a change.

Bleak Leak Law

Another lockdown excursion in home county East Lothian. This time to the wonderfully named Bleak Law in the Lammermuirs. I'd seen a lingering patch of snow from the A1 and wanted to have a closer look. It was by the wonderful named Bleak Law. Pretty apt for Covid times but snow always gives you hope...

Bishop again

Hitched a lift with L since he was going gliding. Left from the airfeld as usual but this time realised after all these years that there is an easier way round the bad bend between the airfield entrance and Lochend farm. There's break in the fence and you can walk by the side of the field. It is so ...

Re: Penvalla from Stobo

Thanks @jmarkb for reading and explaining where the walker's car park is. I was not sure where the sign was referring o when it said back across the road. I'll use that car park next time. Penvalla is indeed a nice wee hill.

A beautiful, late autumn day. Cold bright day, patches of ice underfoot up high.
Walking pass the farm buildings was a little daunting given all the signs but I made it safely enough.

PriestLaw

Still confined to East Lothian due to lockdown but this walk meant a couple of hundred metres excursion into Borders so still within the 5 mile limit.

Penvalla from Stobo

$matches[2] Parked on verge beside telephone box. Gate at John Buchan Way says no parking. Also says there is a walkers car park across the road the at Dawyck Estate but not clear where that is hence parked on the verge back down on the road. Very quiet, on John Buchan Way. Passed a farmer and son ...

Lochcraig Head and Molls Cleuch Dod - a day to remember?

With grouse shooting season started and me only able to walk on the Monday, decide to forego my usual Borders Donald explorations and instead head for some hopefully safer shooter-free tops within the NTS land at Grey Mare's Tail. I had been up White Comb about 30 years ago so decided to head for Lo...

Bin of Cullen

May finally have cracked how to get L and E out for a walk on visits to their Granny's. Pick something that is not Ben Rinnes. Nice pleasant walk on a lovely day. Even saw a mother roe deer and its youngster on the way up. They were only about 10m away from us. No picture though unfortunately. $matc...

Middle Hill from Manor Valley

Wanted to try a different route up Middle Hill since I had already been up Drumelzier and Pykstone and did not really want to do either of them again on the way to Middle. Read some reports about how the Manor head valley is nice and so thought I would try going up the path by Kirkhope. Manorhead va...

White Sands to Chapel Point

Windy day in lockdown. Trying some different walks in East Lothian. Remembered being in this area for a geology field trip a long time ago.

Sparking Spartleton

Felt so fortunate to live in East Lothian during lockdown and able to exercise within the local authority area. Had been up Spartleton Edge before on my lonesome but this time L came along which was great. Utterly fantastic day, snow, sunshine and ice. 90 mins to the top. Lookingt S the sky was full...

Talla Cleuch Head

$matches[2] Parked just past the bridge over Talla Linns. Lots of room and no other cars. From there walked up to the Megget Stone. $matches[2] then followed the path up Fans Law. $matches[2] As the path gets higher, the view opens up. $matches[2] The path continued to run alongside the deer fence....
