Cramalt Craig via Dun (not Donald) Law

Headed back to Megget reservoir and the Cramalt Burn track that T and I previously went up to get to Dollar Law in the mist and rain back in Nov'20 but this time it was clear and just me on my lonesome. Decided against revisiting Dollar Law and instead headed for Cramalt Craig. $matches[2] $matches[...

Icy Lammer Law again but this time with Xmas pressie in hand

With East Lothian along with the rest of the mainland in Tier 4, I had to restrict my walking to within the county. Eventually decided on a return to Lammer Law. This time I would be taking my new Christmas pressie from W - a pair of Lexi trekking poles. The last few times I have been out, I have en...

Broughton and Trahenna in the mist

Atmospheric day. Felt like something out of King Arthur or Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Views were limited from the tops but still a fun day. $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] The route partly follows the John Buchan Way. There's two memorial benches on the way. The birth years of both match m...

Re: Culter Fell

@iangpark - thanks for responding to my post. To be honest it was a wee while ago and so I can't really remember for sure if I really did hear chainsaws.

Dollar Law via Cramalt Burn

Met up with T. First chance to do so since Ben Lawers. Weather forecast not great. Round Biggar seemed about the best. Cloud and rain the whole way up and down. Also really windy at the top but it was still good to get out. Took the straightforward route up the track and back. Couldn't see a thing a...

Black Mount - where's the gap?

A quiet Monday morning, managed to park really easily not far from the stile. Nobody around at all. Just followed the path up through the trees and then headed along the track. $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] The only hairy bit was trying to get on to the hill itself. Mis...

Mendick Hill - found a gate that misses the farm

$matches[2] L agreed to accompany me on windy Sunday afternoon. W and I used to birdwatch in the area before him and E came along. Headed along the Roman Road following superstar_tradesman route and on up the SE slope of the hill. There was a big digger there that looked like it had digging holes f...

Fast Castle - a year on

Same routes as before but a year and a day later and this time L and E. No dolphins either this time. Shame. E was really brave about the heights.

Drumelzier, just Drumelzier

Hum'ed and haw'ed over whether to do Dollar Law, Broughton Heights or this and in the end settled on Drumelzier after all. I had previously been up Pykestone. I decided to travel the reverse of the Walkhighlands suggested traverse of Pykestone, Middle and Drumelzier but only go as far as Drumelzier ...

Bishop - the steep way and longer way back

The route map $matches[2] After Ben Lawers with T and the sore limbs aftermath, I decided that my regular jaunts up Bishop were not quite as preparing me as well as I hoped for future munro expeditions with him so I decided to take the steep route up Bishop. I had done this a few times in the past b...

Return to Lawers

Well the first time was back in December 1991 with the Geography Dept. so here I am almost 29 years later doing it again. Went with T this time in a socially distanced fashion. Car park very busy despite it being a Monday. Thought the hill would be really busy too but in the end it was not too bad. ...
