Re: An afternoon on Glamaig.

I really admire all these folks who run up Glamaig! I traversed this hill once (in mist, couldn't see a thing) and WALKING up the scree to Sgurr Mhairi was a nightmare - can't even imagine racing up to the summit

Caledonian Canal stroll

One day after visiting New Slains weather was great and my heart cried for a Munro walk. Sadly, we had an important meeting arranged in Inverness and there was no way to wriggle out of it :( Life's cruel sometimes. Still, we had a few hours to spend so we walked along the Inverness part of Caledonia...

New Slains: castle & seabird paradise

I always wanted to visit New Slains castle. All the legends and mystery surrounding the ruins, its location and the nearby cliffs full of seabirds... What a scenery for a long coastal walk! I heard though that the access to the castle has been restricted - in 2008 planning permission was granted by ...

Re: The Assynt. Day 1 - Fiddler and Ben More Coigach

Lovely report - this hill is a little Assynt gem, one of many. Still have to climb it myself, I drove past it so many times it would be a sin to ignore it any longer :D

Re: How's the 2011 targets coming along?

Well, not yet there, but I'm on my way :D Started 2011 with 25 Munros ticked off, deep down in my heart I hope for 50 by the end of the year. At the moment it's 41 so I'm certainly close! :D From my to-do list I conquered my biggest menace - Suilven, also Sgurr Alasdair on Skye and Ben More Assynt -...

Re: dragonfly expert needed

I'm not an expert on dragonflies, just happened to photograph a very similar one last summer when doing Craig Meagaidh circle :D

Re: Beinn a'Chaorainn: Some Nice Rocks

Fab pictures, Alastair. Lucky with the weather :D I did these two Munros last year in gray and cloudy conditions - nice to see how they look in full sunshine.

Maol Chean-dearg - cloudy but still fun!

Torridon is one of my favorite areas in Scotland. I'm still waiting impatiently for a good enough day to tackle Liathach (the only of the big Torridon trio I haven't climbed yet). Unfortunately, weather hasn't been so great lately, so for our next trip we picked an easier hill, Maol Chean-dearg. I h...
