Re: Embarrassing Q for the Guys: Ladies, look away now

And now we get to the real reason behind your post. Nice try, Lightfoot - you're not fooling anyone  :D

Re: Stupid Question - Cycling To Derry Lodge

A very easy and straightforward track. On my very few walks along it, I spotted the only fully grown adder I've ever seen, and also found a £5 note. Make of that what you will :D

Sub-2000ft Marilyn bagging: the cart before the horse?

With the English/Welsh Hewitts and the Wainwrights already in the bag, the obvious way to feed the ‘bagging bug’ (on single days out from down here in Lancashire) was to have a stab at the sub-2000ft Marilyns of England and Wales. Over the years, I’ve heard comments from a few people that peak baggi...

Re: Using a nom de plume or not?

I chose Red Peak simply as it's the English translation of the first Munro I climbed: Sgorr Dhearg (Beinn a'Bheithir)

I'm a helicopter pilot by trade, and my real name is Aaron C. Reskew

Re: Ambitions for this Summer

Just to get back up to Scotland would be enough for me this year. I haven't been north of Glasgow for nearly four years, something I need to remedy pretty soon. Ullapool and the surrounding area is looking favourite.

Oh, and to see England win the World Cup

Re: Will midge repellent work on mosquitos?

I didn't think mosquitos suffered from midge bites. Besides, it would be very difficult to apply the cream to a mosquito as you'd need really tiny hands, plus they're quite difficult to catch. Or have I misinterpreted the title of your post?

Re: What is a Rambler

Nigels3011 wrote:A rambler wears a cagoule. :-)

Yep, traditionally a yellow cagoule :D

Walkers often climb hills/mountains on their own; ramblers walk in large groups and generally make a lot of noise

Re: Does Scotland let itself down ?

Maybe I've been lucky over the years, but the vast majority of the B&Bs I've stayed in in scotland have been really good. I would occasionally get a room so small you'd have to got outside just to change your mind, but they were always clean and the hospitality was what I would expect. The same ...

Lightfoot2017 wrote:Take your boss up Liathach and see how long he’s smirking then….

Couldn't agree more, Lightfoot. Take him over something like Liathach, the Aonach Eagach, or the Horns of Alligin; he might shut up then

Re: Cuillin Munros, difficulty rating?

I've also found the routefinding on Sgurr Dubh Mor to be pretty pretty tough both times I did it. The main thing I'd say is dont take the zigzagging traversing paths across the face, they actually lead to two pretty awkward bits. The easiest route is a straight-up towards a protruding block at the ...

Re: Most Bizarre Thing You’ve Seen on a Hill..?

This was the sight that greeted me on reaching the summit (and I use the term 'summit' loosely) of Binks Moss in the north Pennines. Maybe Caberfeidh can offer some kind of explanation? :D
