Re: 2015 Plans?

Ambition remains the same as the last few years.Trying to finish the Corbetts . I made the mistake of leaving the mainly "boring ones" until the end and my motivation ain`t what it should be.Having got Carn na Saobhaidhe out of the way in December and hopefully Corryhabbie Hill this coming...

Re: Winter hiking ideas without gear

The southern uplands will be walkable without winter gear. Maybe you'd be brave enough to try an overnighter in a bothy? Gameshope must be less than an hour from Edinburgh and its set in a rocky wee glen with Talla reservior and some decent hills nearby. There is no fire in Gameshope.Could mean a c...

Re: Camping beside Loch Quoich

If it is just an arrive late leave early site you need you can camp right next to the car at the small parking bay at NH 004 033.Room on the flat grass beside it for a couple of tents. It tends to be hogged by camper vans in summer though you should be ok at this time of year. I used it in June to g...

Re: Walkers meet stalkers for an diversion on Carn Chuinnea

Seconded with regard to the estate.I was late coming off the hill in January 2012 and the pleasant young stalker gave me a lift back down the glen from the foot of the hill. He`d seen my headtorch and waited for me.Meant I could make the curry shop in Boanr Bridge before closing :D

Re: 18th Sept.

How many times have I said I accept we can't know what will happen after the 18th. Salmond seems to think he has a pretty good idea what is likely. Apparently, within their spheres of expertise, so do 2 credit agencies, Tesco and Asda. While they don't agree exactly, no evidence I've read suggests ...

Re: Skye Munros with a dog?

Me old mate Handsome Hector the Hairiest Hound in the Highlands uses boots, as his hips are knackered due to his extreme age, and he was dragging his paws thus skinning his toes. The boots helped a lot, and he is more mobile now. A new lease of life for the old hell-hound to hunt souls through the ...

Re: Galloway Corbetts

Think you may have inadvertently ticked the nearby Graham,Millfore, instead of Millfire the Donald on the Rhinns of Kells. Some pretty confusing names down that way :D
