I took the image from the Cycle/Walkers path...so between the Vehicles heading North and the ditch. Rubbish ends up in ...

Re: Left behind and thrown away rubbish.

Hello...my observations would indicate it to be not entirely new in places to stay on the hills. I can always think of a gentleman, a Ranger for the then SNH, who when I met him in the Cairngorms usually he had a big bag of rubbish mostly picked up from the Shelterstone area to carry out for dispers...

Left behind and thrown away rubbish.

Where I come across this is beside the A9 recently dualled section. I use the cycle/walking path parallel to the race track. I fill two dustbin bags each fortnight with stuff thrown from the Petrol Heads vehicles. And this on just a 1 and a half kl. Section. There is another several kls. before the ...

Re: Grahams and Fionas!

Yes you are correct....from the only publication that we had back in 1959 was the Munro's Tables and other Tables of Lesser Heights not as I said Lesser Corbetts. Not much for the Hill going for folks to advise them on at that time well apart from meeting with folks in the Clubs and kind of bumping ...

Re: Aonach Eagach ridge should I shouldn't I.

In an earlier post on this Topic one of the replies seemed to suggest descending by Clachaig Gully. I think that maybe he meant to say descending by the, now very trashed and loose ground, parallel to the Gully. I became very aware of this during a descent from the ridge in more recent times. The ro...

Re: Hidden beauty south of Slochd

Yes, when I enlarged the image that you used I found it much clearer than the one I took when in the area. :)

The crossing of the Cuillin Mountains.

Over a couple of weeks now the BBC 4 has broadcast the two days that Robert Macfarlane, he of the Mountains of the Mind and several other books, with two friends spent on a visit to the Cuillin combined with a Bivvy close to the Pinnacle. A journey with grand observations and with the voices of Juii...

Re: Hidden beauty south of Slochd

Screenshot (35).png Always a pleasure to visit this area. At different times of the year we access the area on our bikes via the so called Burma Road and the river Dulnain, from the Speyside way and from Boat of Garten and the recently used the old Military road from near this village and again rec...

Re: Speyside Way - Not amazing

I agree with what has been said about this very poor perhaps non maintained route near to Grantown on Spey. My wife and I did the total Trail many years ago on our bikes but without the section that is now falling apart. We went back to walk that section more recently that we had missed out on. Tota...

Re: Lazy days - Carn Dearg Mor from Glen Feshie

Hello, I have been in the area recently to check out the 'gravel trail' that has linked up Feshie with Tromie. All connected with the millions? of trees to be planted in the area and of course to get the ones being cut last week out via Glen Tromie. One of the best new trails that I have come across...

Re: The Allt Garbhlach crossing.

The rudimentary bridge at the Allt Garbhlach crossing. 20230529_125400.jpg Also the Track that allows the washed away bit of the path marked on the Maps to be avoided does not appear even in the latest copy that have of the Ordnance Survey maps that I have through the annual fee system. Seems odd th...

Re: The Allt Garbhlach crossing.

Hello, If it were Wildland who put in the rudimentary bridge over the Allt Garbhlach burn I don't why that they did not put this in the Information sheet at the cairn that has just appeared there recently. The wee bridge over the burn has been there for the most part of the summer. Well at least we ...
