Re: Wales Coastal Path

I completed it (minus a few bits I did no want to do (Pembroke Dock, Milford Haven docks) some I had done in previous years (Anglesey, Llyn Peninsula being the biggest stretches) and the rest over several weeks in a year. Trail shoes should do, but you will get wet feet on some days. The signage is ...

Re: Wales Coastal Path

I used the Cicerone guide but to be honest I don't really like their LDP guidebooks, too much description on directions. I like the Trailblazer guidebooks much more, they are filled with much more practical information, but they don't do a full guide, just certain sections. The Cicerone one goes N t...

I have the Alite Mayfly which I use on one night wildcamping trips sometimes (Going to Arenig Fawr Bothy with me tomorrow night, I will put it on the bench to make it more comfortable). It's very low profile, the seat area almost touches the floor, I chose this type so I could sit in my tent without...

Re: WALKHIGHLANDS AUTUMN MEET 25th/26th Oct 2019

Hi David, I could still be up in the Highlands to make this. Probably in my Campervan if there is room to park it. I will pay whatever is neaded to use the facilities. But will leave it until nearer the time to confirm if that's OK?

Re: Crape Wrath May 2019 - Glenfinnan variant route advice

I've done this route which could be a good alternative, there are paths for most of the walk, there are a few rivers to cross, no problem when I did it, but probably crossable further upstream if they were in spate. You could also go up to Mam Unndalain from Loch Quich. There are a few good wildcamp...

Re: Bothy in front of Buachaille Etive Mor

I met Norrie in Gorton Bothy, November 2016. A gang of us turned up to spoil his 2 night spell of solitude, not that he minded as he enjoyed our company, and we his. He quickly reminded us when we referred to Jacksonville as a Bothy... "It's a club hut" he growled  I gave him a lift d...

Re: Bothy in front of Buachaille Etive Mor

It's left open, you take your chances stopping in it, be armed with a bottle of the finest malt to help with negotiations, it may be the difference of a good night sharing your bottle by the bothy stove, or being told to go forth and multiply! There is a story of a certain Chris Bonnington attempti...
