Re: Lawers range underfoot conditions

It's probably just me, but I've never understood why people ask 'ground condition' questions. :?

Re: Looking for all-in-one gadget

Not a watch, but a basic Garmin Etrex 10 would do the trick. You won't know total ascent until you upload your route to your computer though.

Costs under a £100 and less faff than a watch.

Re: Pain in groin/hip - any ideas?

See your GP and get a referral to the physio. Don't let them palm you off with painkillers if it's a constant problem.

Re: Impressive achievement

The article says she has 'banked' 50 munros for her next round. So If I was to camp at the bottom of a mountain do it 30 times in a row, move onto the next one and do it again, etc etc, would that be 30 rounds after I had been round them all? Pretty much. It's useful for the far away Munros. Like n...

Re: Sleeping bag

What exactly is it for? If it just for campsites and roadside camping then the Snugpak bags are fine, I've got the Snugpak Softie Chrysalis 3. Good for chilly nights but not really cold.

If it's for backpacking the bag you suggest might be a bit heavy and bulky.

Re: Pap of Glencoe

Folk have got lost on Ben Lomond in the clag, always expect the worst so you're prepared for it.

Map and compass weighs very little.

Should always take a map.

Re: Things that make you go mad

I seen your post over on one of the FB pages, with the usual keyboard warriors.

The rangers at Marr Lodge had over 60 fire pits to fix this year.

No need for it at all!

Re: walking tick list

It's pretty much impossible to list all walks due to endless route options. But you can tick off sections of recognised long distance routes such as the Scottish National Trail.

Re: How to Transport Fuel Cylinders

If you're travelling within the UK rail network, you'll be fine. But plenty shops to buy gas in Aviemore. 8)

Re: Plastic Mountain

The litter on the hills is quite frankly outrageous particularly in honey pot areas. it's getting worse. Plastic, banana skins, fag butts, wrappers etc. Folk can't even toilet right in the hills without leaving a mess, discarded toilet paper and I even seen a dumped sanitary towel next to the path i...
