Re: Aonach Eagach ridge should I shouldn't I.

Good advice from Colin. We did it at our 4th & 5th Munros and the time went by in a flash (almost an out of body experience) because we were concentrating on the moves not on the surroundings. The route is so clearly defined but definitely one for a good day. However it is easy to end up at the ...

Re: Beinn Eighe - from end to (almost) end

I would not be put off by my apparent difficulty; I was hesitant, given the conditions and being solo, and I would like to think it would be a much lesser problem without those two issues. I suspect, from your many excellent reports, you would have no difficulty. It was a dramatic and interesting ro...

Quinag at the third attempt

For the past 2 years Ben and I have driven up from Ullapool to Kylesku and beyond in the hope that there would be cloud free hills; on both occasions we have sat in the car park next to the beautiful bridge debating whether we should spend the day on Quinag in clag. On both occasions we declined, ar...

Beinn Eighe - from end to (almost) end

$matches[2] Our previous visit to BE was on 20/6/2019, a damp miserable claggy day when we only saw one other person on the hill (a fell runner who didn’t stop to talk). Being such a big complex mountain the regular route misses a lot of interesting features, including four Munro Tops, spread along...

Re: Ben Eighe Complete Ridge

Chris Your report was very helpful. I did this route in May (just before the fantastic weather) in dense clag. I suspect my picture below is from the same area as your 6th photo i.e. above the tower. It was a spooky experience being on my own in those conditions but it turns out the clag was a godse...

Re: Bidean nam Bian - Gearr Aonach zig zags to A & E

Yes it can be tricky, I ended up near that large scree fan in the photo but then moved back down and away from the cliff face, which is when I spotted the start point. Hopefully my photos will help.

Regards

Photo of the Zig zags taken from Beinn Fadha ridge in 2019. The route is pretty clear from this.

Shenavall visit

The MWIS forecast being for low cloud on the tops i decided to take a low level walk into Fisherfields to view the bothy and river crossings with a view to approaching the Fisherfield 6 and the Beinn Deargs. Route taken along the ATV track from Corrie Haille to Shenavall was via the poor path (start...

Re: How many photos do you take on a day out?

I tend to take a lot, maybe 100 - 150 on a long day but have now gone over to phone camera only. I'm such a bad photographer that i need that many to get a half-decent set. When I return back to Norfolk I then review and delete a large number of them. It's good discipline to have a limit (40) to inc...

A short walk round the back of nowhere

$matches[2] The forecast for the 22nd was for low cloud and wind, given two fairly long days before (Beinn Eighe & Coire Lair) and another one the next day (The Saddle Circular) I opted for low level walks in and around Arnisdale. I was also keen to see if the bridge at the Strath a Chomair woo...

Re: Beinn Fhada and a'Glas Bheinn with a camp

Good report, I particularly like the heroic summit poses. Which hill have you decided upon for your completion?
