Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Roderick Ross CVO CBE KPM (24 May 1865 – 6 March 1943) was Chief Constable of Edinburgh City Police from 1900 to 1935. So they had being Chief Constable in common. He had previously been Chief Constable in Margate Better to give it to 1/2M 1/2T as he really cracked it. That’s very generous, as I wo...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Robert Rollock and William Milligan were both moderators of the Church of Scotland, but at very different times. Neither anywhere near. Both RR and WM were born 19th century and died 20th century. Could this be the police detective William Merrilees, who wrote The Short Arm of the Law? No idea who ...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

RR at one time worked in Ramsgate, while the better known WM got the BRB, that should set the hares running! "the hares running", was just a reference to your fingers running over the keyboards seeking the answers, not a clue as such. But in fact RR and WM might have been interested in st...

Re: Molls Cleuch Dod

I have this walk planned for a trip south in a couple of weeks. Did you go clockwise or anti? Over the years this, and variations of it, has been one of my favourite walks, and the Southern Uplands at their best. I have always done it in an anticlockwise direction starting with Carlavin Hill. If yo...

Neither of those two, and not looking for footballers.

Neither anywhere near.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Thanks Sgurr, thought that was worth a try. I see Berwick Rangers now play in the Lowland League.

Now try this one: what links RR and WM?

Roe Deer

Yesterday I was quietly enjoying a leisurely lunch in the Broughton Heights when this fine (young?) roe deer wandered up and was quite bold, coming within about 15m. It seemed unconcerned and continued to graze before wandering off. $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] $matches[2] DSCF812...

Re: Recommended Corbett/Graham combos

Millfore and corserine, Merrick and Mullwharchar, add on lamachan hill too if yer feeling strong!. Agree with this, but the classic circuit from Glen Trool, over Benyellary, Merrick, Mullwharchar, Dungeon Hill and Craignaw is a superb route, arguably the finest in the south of Scotland and will giv...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

When I put this question up I was looking to see if S0 was unique in being the only single letter plus zero number plate in Scotland.... Quite right, S0 is the numberplate on Edinburgh Council's official car, this goes back a fair time, possibly as long ago as 1903 when car registrations were first ...

Wonderful suggestions, I wish it was lenticular galaxies, but it isn't; a lot more mundane.
If you see S0, you might also see E's LP.
