Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Must be the school that they both went to, Prince Philip loved Gordonstoun and Prince Charles hated it.

Re: So how busy was it?

Loch Lochy M's on Saturday (17.04). About 10 cars. I guess too far from the central belt for the mad crowd  Like this: $matches[2] and 5 minutes later at 0737 it looked like this: $matches[2] luckily there are ways of avoiding the main path, and my walk up looked like this: $matches[2] quite ...

Re: Map Brain Teaser

I thought that jmarkb would be the first to get this correct, and I'm glad that this has created some interest. The NLS maps are a great resource, but I still like to collect old paper maps. The one I took this information from was 1:25,000 first series sheet NT16 Balerno, which appears to have been...

Re: Map Brain Teaser

No takers as yet, but always pleased when Tim takes an interest. As a map is involved you would be correct in assuming that units of area are involved.

Map Brain Teaser

Looking at an old Ordnance Survey map today I found information in the margin that I hadn't noticed before: Can you tell me the scale of the map and the units used and which of these three choices is correct: a) 1= 99.396 b) 1= 99.639 c) 1= 99.936 further clues to come if necessary

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Is Scotland BT's native country, if not what is the Scottish connection?

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Did the first Scottish dictionary (or similar) take a 104 years to complete, starting with the letter O?

Re: Grayside Wind Farm - Culter Fell, Hudderstone and Surrou

This proposal saddens me, but is not really a surprise given the number of turbines already in the area. I went up over Cowgill Rig in July 2020 and onto Hudderstone and then walked down to the south end of Cowgill Upper reservoir and then north along the westside of the reservoir. I will retrieve s...

Re: Your walking poems.

In the past, particularly in my mid to late 50s, when I was particularly demotivated, I used to sit at work and write (bad) poetry, I've recently rediscovered 30 or 40 pages of it in an old briefcase, hopefully most will not see the light of day but this might be appreciated: Tinto Friendly, rounded...

Indeed it is, previously known as Bush Croquet Club.

Over to you, and a very Happy Christmas to all followers of this fascinating and sometimes infuriating thread.

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

You were closer last time....remember...its just not cricket. Although it is called MCC, and is just across the road from M it is actually situated on BL, which is much more closely associated with another sport....

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

No, not a marathon championship cheat. They don't make hay here anymore. Are you going to give us a hint, or let us stew in our ignorance? That was a clue, and Rohan has nearly cracked it , before it moved to M , it was BCC. Oh, and by the way, cricket is often played on the Meadows, but not...

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)

Thanks Charles, should we all gather there to avoid the present plague?

Its just not cricket (Aussie version), It's just not cricket (BBC version), applies to this MCC.
