Re: Ben claims another

Thoughts are with the families involved.
Noted a couple of local teuchters climbing Ben Hope a couple of weeks back heading up in tshirts. White out conditions at the top so hopefully they made it back down without incident.

Re: Huge queues on Snowdon

The Ranger path is a quieter option. Or just do it at night :D

Ben Challum

Left the car park at 0833 on a cold and foggy morning. Headed up through the farm, past the graveyard and onto the railway crossing. I couldn’t find the path beyond that point so headed off piste for a bit before deciding to head over to the trees on my right. From there followed a very boggy path u...

Re: Munro buddy

I’m not up as often as I would like to be, work commitments hamper me being on the hills most weekends.
That sounds ace, a year doing that is an amazing adventure, fair play to you.
I’d be happy to join you one weekend and hit a munro or two, weather permitting!

Re: Beinn Dorain

It doesn’t take long to do both of them. I did both in four hours yet this site says 6-8hrs which is very generous.

Re: Weather question

I’d suggest wind and rain are your biggest enemies. I was up Beinn a Bheithir today and the wind at the top was so strong, add to that torrential rain. If you don’t have the right gear you can very quickly come unstuck. Waterproofs and keep an eye on the Mountain Weather forecast and you’ll both be ...

Re: Newbie alert ;)

I wouldn’t go overboard on spending until you know you like it. Go cheap and you can upgrade as you go along. Just get yourself the basics. It’s an expensive hobby if you fall into the trap that you require every single bit of kit. I would consider initially planning your hikes on days with favourab...

Mount Keen from Glen Esk

Left the car park at 0500 having had next to no sleep. Turned right after the church to find two stags on the path. $matches[2] A warm but breezy morning. Long walk in and tough underfoot but no navigation required, it’s just follow the path. Met a couple coming down and a lad who had been up during...

Angus Munros in a day

Interested to know if anyone has done Mount Keen and then Mayar and Driesh in the same day.
Looking to do them tomorrow and I’m planning to use my bike to save some time on Mount Keen.

Re: In Pinn - will it all go horribly wrong?

I did it last year and quickly found out how immobile I was. Practice some stretching!

Re: When can we visit Scotland again?

26th of April. Travel restrictions are lifted within mainland Scotland on that day. If you’re travelling from England those restrictions will have been lifted a fortnight earlier.
