Comic Hill I almost reached the top, but ended up in stitches.

Based on experience, I'd start it very gentle. Possibly not even involving a hill, do a lovely glen walk and point out hill options as you go.

Very good

Re: best time to get a new walker started

Comic Hill and Ben A’an are both amazing wee hills to introduce someone to the Scottish countryside. Munros for someone inexperienced as already said on here isn’t the best idea. Could put her off it for good. I had my 16 year old daughter up Helvellyn in the Lakes yesterday and she was not impresse...

Re: Best way to gain back hill fitness?

Your hill fitness will soon come back once you’ve done a couple. If you have a base line fitness climbing Munros is relatively easy. Biggest thing for you I would suggest is lose the extra timber. Whatever you’ve gained will be like the old you hitting the hills but with that weight in your rucksack...

Re: Kingshouse bunkhouse.. open? But what like?

I stayed in the hotel earlier in the year when I was doing the WH Way.
Booked one night so not sure where people are getting a minimum two from.

Re: Hello

Lucky you. Glasgow is an amazing city with wonderful people. I miss it dearly but it’s not too far for me to pop over the border to and visit.

Re: Tourist Tax?

I’m sure local businesses reliant on the tourist industry will welcome this - not.

Severe weather forecast 051219

MWIS reporting gusts of wind on the higher peaks of up to 100mph. Ben Vorlich Loch Lomond near the summit a few years back I was almost lifted off my feet. That was bad enough but wasn’t forecast anything like what is expected Thursday. Can’t imagine what 100mph winds near the top of a mountain in w...

Re: The perils of a Touch Screen GPS

Most surveyors I know cut the tip of the glove. Allows you to slide it back and then your finger is free.

Re: Opinion on ways to tackle northernmost 4

You’ve collectively whetted my appetite to tackle these and weather permitting I’m hoping to get the two northernmost achieved next weekend. The mountains will be the easier part I think. A thousand mile round trip for me so a long weekend in prospect.

Re: Second Munro Round - Cheating or not cheating??

Up to you. You could argue that you haven’t climbed all the Munro’s if you have captured multiple ones on ridge walks so there is no hard and fast rule.
For me to properly do it you would climb each one from the bottom.

Re: Whw milngavie to rowerdennan

It’s not a tough walk but I have no idea how much stamina you have, how fit you are or what you are carrying. The Walk Highlands reports on long walks , WHW give a good indication on how long each section should take. They always work on a rough best case, worst case. Adjust that to suit your abilit...

Re: Dogs and Munros

Not many Munros you can’t take your dog up - main consideration though has to be their paws on the scree.
