Re: Ceapabhal on the way into Leverburgh

Glad to see that we were not the only ones climbing up this short, but tough, mountain this year! My wife and I climbed it whilst on holiday in the Outer Hebrides in early August. In addition, I read the report written by Jaxter, who climbed it in April. The views from the top are truly out of this ...

Re: Beautiful Berneray

In case you are interested, consulting the Butterfly Conservation website has led me to believe that the name of the butterfly is the Northern Brown Argus. It is not particularly common in the Outer Hebrides - let alone Berneray - but then what is? :)

Re: The alternative Dalmally horseshoe

So, you say that the summer has gone. It doesn't look like it to me! Make the most of it! Actually, I am rather curious when you say this is the last chance to climb further Munros this year. I get the impression that many people prefer to climb Munros and any smaller peaks outside of the summer mon...

Re: Jura! Jura! Jura!

My wife and I visited Jura for a day a couple of years ago. I don't like to say this but this was on my 'bucket list' of the places I would like to go - simply because it is so far away from our present abode and it is extremely tricky to get to. Or so I thought! We - like you - found that we could ...

Re: Beautiful Berneray

I hope that you don't mind me asking but do you know the type of butterfly featured in picture 1? I am not a expert in 'butterfly-land' but this looks slightly unusual to me.

I am keen to hear your opinion.

Re: walk from Kylestrome to Glendhu bothy

My wife and I managed to do this walk a few years ago at Easter time. Truly magnificent scenery! The weather on that day was almost the same as yours, blue sunny skies for almost all of the way there and back. The most memorable thing about the walk, however, was being buzzed by a Hercules aeroplane...

Re: Take me back to the islands

Thank you for sharing these marvellous photographs with us! Almost all magnificent and they serve as a reminder of the time we were there a few short weeks ago - which was almost exactly the time you were there, travelling in the opposite direction to us! The highlight of our one-and-only visit (so ...

Re: Tete a tete with CMD arete!

What an achievement on climbing Ben Nevis the especially difficult way, i.e. climbing Carn Mor Dearg before circulating the arete up to Coire Leis! You and Kevin deserve a clap! Spare a thought for us who can only attempt the "Chickens' route", by the way. It has to be worth some co...

Re: Astounding Assynt - A Whirlwind Wander up the NW!

As ever, truly stunning! And the incredible weather must have helped to make the journey and your stay fantastic! (Most of) my family and I first visited Assynt in July/August 2013. I thought that the whole area was magnificent then... and I have still not changed my mind. I cannot think of better p...

An Almost Dry Day in Austria.

After last year's summer holiday when we spent half-an-hour zig-zagging our way along the border between Italy and Austria - and thus adding Austria to the list of countries we had visited on foot - we decided to go to different part of Austria for this year's holiday. After briefly consulting the i...

Re: Up the Snub!

My wife and I did this walk - or most of it - over two years ago when we visited the area for a couple of days as tourists from 'way down south'. We stayed in the hotel - the second night almost on our own! - and took the chance on the last day to climb up to the top of Green Hill before making our ...

Re: Beinn Bhreac or Meall Dubh?

Very brave of you to go out and climb this hill on a very cold and wintery day! However, I have to say that I was a bit puzzled as to why you had to be back to see the Ski Jump on T.V.? Video Recorder, anyone? I have slightly gone-off ski-jumping, I must confess - I wonder why? I am more of ...

One Foot in Austria, the Other in Italy

The Val Pustertal is an interesting place. To the south you have the Dolomites. To the north, west and east you have the more traditionally shaped mountains of the Alps. Along the bottom of the valley, between Dobbiaco/Toblach and San Candido/Innichen you will find the start of the River Drau/Drava....

Re: Ben Hiant - Blessed Mountain views

You seem to be definitely trying to sell a visit to Ardnamurchan to me! I first noticed the place some years back when we visited Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. More latterly, whilst on holiday at the foot of Glen Coe we had a walk from Strontian - almost there! If only the weather could be promised...

Re: Polands Tatra Mountains - Eagles Path

Quite a bit out of my league, perhaps, but from the photographs it looks absolutely stunning!
