Re: Building new cairns, memorials etc

Must admit Iobbed a few painted stones from the summit cairn off the side of Toll Creagach a while ago which isn't much help as now there are still painted stones on the hill, just a bit further down. Any painted stones etc. get flung in the nearest remote corrie Please don't do that. There are peo...

Re: Building new cairns, memorials etc

Things can get a bit silly, especially in places with a lot of visitors. I'm all for stomping down silly tourist cairns, but you don't want to incurr the wrath of someone who has just built a wee memorial to some loved one, incorporating their cremated ashes. Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Corrievreckan Yes. I was standing on the north tip of Jura the night before I was due to swim across it and I swear it got wider as I looked. Just out of curiosity, how far did you get? I tried it once and ended up off Nova Scotia... Caberfeidh clinging to tidal debris, off New Foundland.jpg

Re: Dried food

You have all got me pining for an old Vesta Curry which was our staple on the 80s when on trips. Cremola Foam, primula cheese, oatcakes. Porridge with dried milk, plus a bag of sausages. Seriously though loads of great ideas on this post. Might just plan a wee trip in the Spring even though l am ge...

Re: Cairngorm 4000'ers snow conditions June?

I doubt if there will be much snow left in June, maybe the odd patch, but those should be avoidable. There is often a sharp division; May has a lot of snow left on the peaks, by June it has mostly gone. However, Scotland being Scotland, I would not put money on it! p.s. be aware it still gets very c...
