Beinn Donachain

First Graham/Fiona of the new year. Hadn't been on a hill since November and was feeling the effect of recent festive over indulgence but the weather forecast was too good to miss. Followed the SMC Grahams' route but with a detour on the way up to Lochan Coire Thoraidh. Beinn Donachain 7jan2024.gpx ...

Re: Advice wanted - overnight backpack

Like WM above, another vote for the Osprey Exos 58 from me - think it weighs about 1kg empty.
Similar to KR above, I also have and like an Osprey Kestrel 38l but I use it for winter day walks as I've never managed to get all my camping stuff into it (maybe I carry too much  ).

Re: Ocean and Islands from Ceapabhal on Harris

Enjoyed that - your photos show off the late autumnal colours to best effect  Back in 2020 we'd planned a trip to the islands for what would have been my wife's first visit but events overtook us - still to manage it but hopefully in the next year or two - cheers :)

Re: The car-less adventure series part 1

Well done on making a positive out of a negative and managing to get and about again  Sounds like you had a rather challenging time of late and it's so easy to let things get on top of you but you've made the break and a nice way in which to do it. Know what you mean about raynauds - same here...

Re: The Coldest Shore - A Winter Solo CWT attempt

Tough as auld boots esp for the water crossing. That sounded challenging, hard going and mentally sapping but at the same time massively rewarding - well done
I still have long term plans for this for when I retire but it'll be May/June for me - cheers :)
