Re: Four short fell walks on another damp day out.

This is a fine collection you've put together TM, I've always admired those hardy folk who can return to their car and drive to another hill and go at it again (I often think I'm going to but the pull of the car seat seems to stop me  ) I certainly would have lacked the spirit to do so in those...

Re: Muncaster Fell and Irton Pike

Fantastic write up Nighe, as en ex railwayman it does my heart good to see it included in a hike report. As you say, shame to miss those viaducts due to darkness but those pictures and your fortune at the pub mean it was still a fantastic day....and leaves you with a great excuse to go back sometime...

Re: Ko Lan Thailand.

Small world Paulo, my mate lives in Singapore and went to Thailand (Pattaya ) with his wife on business and took an extended break while there, he actually walked those steps at Ko Lan and said the very same thing you did about the heat

Re: Viking Way Part two (Caistor to Tealby).

Bloody lovely Paulo and I only had to wait 3 years for the second installment   There are a bunch of old mine shafts around the Nettleton area from ironstone mines but that one you photographed with the stepped concrete facade is actually the old route of the Viking Way passing under the e...

Re: Heavenly Helvellyn

That is one continuous string of spectacular images from start to finish JK, just beautiful   I read the falling camera paragraph with a pained expression expecting the worst and have to say I'm impressed with the outcome  I guess it must have bounced on corners each time or somet...

Re: Not a good start to the Year

Good lord Chris what a bizarre thing, and what a reminder that it doesn't have to be a pinnacle ridge or a grizzly bear that gets you....we often forget that this fate threatens all of us in the most benign of circumstances. Good luck with the recuperation, I'm sure you'll be ready for springtime :t...

Re: Gourmet bivvying

Stunning HMHT, not just the views but that damn gourmet grub in the middle of nowhere. It's a while since I did any camping but it always involved beans still in the tin, warmed at the bottom and cold at the top with lots of bits of stick in there too  You will be inundated with offers of hike ...
