Re: Name that Loch!
Ah, Dores, how I adore Dores... I used to camp along the beach, gathering firewood for the camp fire, having a wee dram as the sun set in the west, staining every hillside and promontory a slightly different shade of purple, violet and mauve... One stormy night in autumn with the wind causing big w...

Re: Beinn dearg
I especially like that Aonach Mor is smaller than Aonach Beag. It's most likely based on apparent bulk and not height - the summit area of Aonach* Mor is about half-a-mile long whereas that of Aonach Beag is comparatively compact. * "Aonach" being "slope." Yes I've heard that's ...

Re: Lurg Mhor and Bidein a Choire Sheasgaich by bike.
Great pictures and a great report of your day. I remember that cycle in and getting to the high point on the track after the zigzags, thinking - that can't be the hills away in the far distance...... it was!
A fine route and fine hills - all the best.

Re: What CAN you do on a hill near CANnich?

Re: Beautiful snowy escape
That looked good. I've been up there a few times and it tends to be very boggy on the ridge more often than not. I haven't been up in conditions as good as that and not for a few years either, due a return quite soon. I was out at Dores today and it was lookin great. The Meall just poking out on the...

Re: Up Meall Fuar-mhonaidh in the snow, from Allt Sigh
I've never been up that way. A bit more ascent than the normal route but looks good, might try it soon. I especially like your last picture.
Cheers

Re: Conival alternative ascent
There is a nice approach from Eagle Rock to the south, along the ridge to Ben More Assynt.
Looking towards Ben More Assynt from near the south top

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)
Is it Monessie Gorge? I have to confess to cheating with Google image search because I was curious about what looks to be a completely dry river bed in this photo. Yes it's the river Spean at the Monessie Gorge. A great place to visit but no parking, I park at the top of the hill at the church carp...

Re: Glencoe hillwalkers fined for travel violation.
I've no idea of my NHS area. Just because someone challenged my impeccable knowledge of Edinburgh council boundaries I looked, and heavens, I was very wrong. Yes I understand that, I was the same. I was not too bad with the old County boundaries but the current local authorities I wasn't sure of. B...

Re: Glencoe hillwalkers fined for travel violation.
Firstly, banning cycling would heavily and unfairly/unreasonably impact those who don't have a car and a bicycle is their primary mode of transport, so banning cycling would be like banning driving for other people. Secondly, it is illogical to ban cycling whilst allowing people to use public trans...
