Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Ben Dronaig?!

No idea what will be my last Rockhopper, but hopefully one of the Arran hills in a planned trip in October.
Just got to make sure I've done the final 7 mainland ones before then - including Ben Dronaig!!

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Although I have worked it out - a mixture of detective work ;-) and the fact that I was recently close by having climbed Sgurr Gaorsaic - and debated climbing up that ridge of Ben Attow to claim a couple of tops.....

You are between Beinn Fhada and Ciste Dhubh

Rockhopper - for you that is a given, but it doesn't narrow it down much

Re: things that have lasted

Oh gosh - I LOVED my Raichles - I bought them for a hike up Kilimanjaro in 2008 - but I then took them for a tour around all of the Wainwrights and almost all of the Munros. They were AMAZING. Although by my final Munro - 8 years after the purchase - an inspection revealed that I'd seriously worn aw...

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

I am not on a Munro, and I am certainly in a remote area.
If I were to show you the view behind me, there are certainly some recognisable peaks.

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Small clue.....
This cairn is not on the summit - the true summit lies ahead, further along this ridge.

Re: Where's the picture ? - Scotland (part 3)

Oh I am sure I can be caught!!!
My work is also annoyingly busy, and my competing hobbies and demanding attention
How about this one - chosen simply because I love the picture!

Re: River crossing

I'm rubbish at crossing rivers - short legs and poor balance = trouble with using stones. In the event of a wade I've generally anticipated it in advance and have my very special river crossing crocs to hand, and I always have my poles to steady myself. Boots and socks off, boots tied by laces and s...

Re: Nearly got there

Enjoy tomorrow Bastonjack. Stob Coire a Chearcaill is another fine hill but a lot less rugged than Garbh Bheinn and I'm sure you'll reach the summit and bask in your achievement. Garbh Bheinn however is a fabulous peak - build up your stamina and confidence and return to it on a fine day with plenty...
