Lord Arthur on a Sunny Day

At last we had a nice day to climb Lord Arthur and boy was it a sunny one! Leave the car as usual by the Tulloch road end on the Alford to Lumsden road and walk up the tarred road to the farm. At a cattle grid turn left into woodland, head along the edge of the wood until you reach a stile. Over the...

Re: No sleep 'til An Socach

the photo of your little tent brought back memories for me. Many times have I had rather fitful nights sleep in a frozen tent with your breath freezing on the top of the sleeping bag. I'm afraid I'm just a bit of a softie now and the tent is never used but keep it up as long as you can, nothing quit...

Re: Lumphanan to Kincardine O'Neil and Back Via the High Rou

I did this on a mountain bike one sunny evening last spring but found great difficulty in navigating around fields and fences and so on. The signposting is not up to much or wasn't when I did it. Walking would be easier than on a bike of course.

Re: Ben Avon

What a smashing view of the corrie. It has been a very long time since I was there and don't know if I'll ever be there again now but thanks for the nice photos anyway.

Re: An Socach And Beinn Lutharn Mhor from Baddoch

Nice photos and glad you had a dry day but I bet it was bitterly cold up there.

Re: A misty Lord Arthur

The photos are in reverse order. I'll get it right some day even if it kills me!

A misty Lord Arthur

This is a nice walk but unfortunately I picked the wrong day for it! I intend to go back when the view from the top will be of the Ladder Hills and beyond. I can only hope that you are not too discouraged by the rather dull pics. It starts from the right hand side of the Alford Lumsen road at a farm...

Re: Try the Hill of Fare for some fine views of Deeside

I intend to try it from the East next time. As for the fotties. Well actually the camera was accidentally set to close up on some of the shots.I still haven't got the hang of it yet as it's a new one.

Re: Try the Hill of Fare for some fine views of Deeside

Yes it was sunny. I still haven't mastered the uploading of photos business yet. The map was supposed to be the first one. I am rather confused by the options available when posting pics. Does anyone else find this?

Try the Hill of Fare for some fine views of Deeside

001.JPG We had some free time today after doing some shopping in the nearby Garden Centre at Banchory so decided to try the Hill of Fare. You are allowed to park round the back of the Raemoir House Hotel a few K's north of Banchory off the A980, just try not to block the track. There is a muddy car...

Re: Loch Moy Loop

We've done this one as well on folding bikes. Last time we were staying at the caravan site with the camper just down the road. If I remember there is a ruin on the Island with some connection to the Wolf of Badenoch. I remember the jackdaws or crows circling around it, very spooky it was. This is a...

Re: Brown [and white] Cow Hill

This area is good for wild camping. We've been wild camping while cycling from Corgarf to Braemar. Found a spot below some sheilings in upper Glen Builg. We were running low on meths for the stove but found some dried tree roots, just the job and had the kettle going in no time. I've also done Ben A...

Re: Brown [and white] Cow Hill

Hamish is 1 and a half and if I let him off lead when there is anything around to chase, deer, sheep, pheasants, rabbits, hares, grouse he would disappear and I would be left hanging around until he decided he had had enough running around. That might be an hour or more. He quickly disappears into t...

Re: Brown [and white] Cow Hill

Hamish is a border terrier. Lots of energy but can't be let off lead on the hill or anywhere near livestock. However with an 8metre extending lead it's not a problem. I'm afraid I made a bit of a hash of uploading the pics. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet and they seem to be a bit ravelled up. ...
