Re: Wrong Mountain

Sounds like they started from the wrong car park, and followed the first path they found without thinking. (I'd wondered if they'd started with the first light on Snowdon and left Ben Nevis for the dark, but it doesn't sound like it.) I've met people convinced that the left hand turn to Esk Pike and...

Re: Traintravel UK

- I like websites which use the 'mixing desk' layout - I often use https://tickets.gwr.com/gw/en/journeyplanning/mixingdeck despite never travelling in that part of the country - but that is just layout. - Some companies do claim to sell their own tickets for cheaper, but I don't know that it genera...

Re: Ben Klibreck and Ben Hope

I did start trying to calculate it for the Wainwrights, which is a bit difficult as I didn't record second ascents, but when I reread the instructions I wasn't sure if my handful of doublers counted towards some hypothetical second round. And then I thought that if you were a Banker then *everything...

Re: Ben Klibreck and Ben Hope

Well, I'm at 19/19 = 1, and I'm not hardcore at all! I don't think it works so well at the lower ends.

Re: Beware Just About Everything in Glen Shira

I've just been reading a murder mystery set at Glen Shira, where people are apparently compelled to throw themselves out of a tower window. I'm glad you avoided that danger, along with all the others... And I'm glad you made sure the bikes had a good view. scdtigger and I always tried to make sure t...

Re: Scottish Hills

I will definitely miss being able to think of any ultra-obscure hill and see what Sgurr said about it!

I would support a mass import of your reports (support practically, too, if there was anything I could do to help), but I see the point about overloading the forums...

Re: Shattering the silence

If it's the way I went - up to the top of a wall on the Greenup side, and round to little terraces on the Langstrath side - it's in Wainwright. Not that I saw much of the gully, because rain was literally running down both it and me at the time...

Anyone else giraffebagging?

Not climbing up them - that would be Wrong. But there's something irresistible about a map!

Re: Where's the pic England v5

Is it looking up towards Grange/Arnside from somewhere at the Morecambe end?

WH coming and going

Is anyone else still getting WH coming and going (mostly timing out), and sometimes more gone than come?

I can't see why it would just be me (it happens everywhere, so it's not being blocked on one network) - but I thought there would be more moaning if it was everyone!

Re: Load rout map to walk report

Are you using the 'Draw route' link within the walk report? If so, there's a bit in the 'Your route' box which says 'add to walk report'.

If you're doing it from the GPS link, you'll have to save the route as a gpx file and then upload it to the report as if it was a photo.

Re: The Compass Peaks

It's always surprising how far east England is - Edinburgh is west of Carlisle, and just about everywhere else except the very fringes of the Welsh marches, and then Devon and Cornwall and a bit of Somerset. I had a quick look at the 3000 footers yesterday - Snowdon, Ben Hope and Mount Keen seem cle...
