Re: is my munro bagging all over

I have a ritual most years. I borrow my mates crampons. 4 years later I have had 4 winters thinking I shall buy my own set. I go around various retailers and have arguments about whether my boots can take crampons successfully. By the Grand rules of compatability Handbook - they can't.(Raichle Scout...

Re: Beinn a'Chreachain but not Beinn Achaladair

2 of my favourite mountains for the way the ground falls away in front of them - as per pic number 41- so you can see right up to Nevis and the Grey Corries.
Glad to see the snow is still the soft walkable type.
Lovely report and some top pictures

Re: Cairngorm wanderings - another brick in the wall

Really enjoyed your walk report, Kevsbald and especially the 2 pics of the trees in the landscape. The fungi looked amazing -though I know nothing about them. As one person has already put in a Floyd pun, I don't feel so bad about saying your report deserves a "meddle". Forgive me, that wa...

Re: From sunshine into darkness on the big grey hill

This was the best type of report for me. As long as I have ben walking the hills - not that long actually, just 6/7 years - I have had my eye on this mountain and Sgorr Ruadh in a day. I found your report really enlightening about the terrain at the ridge of Beinn Liath Mhor. It looks a lot more acc...

Re: A bad day

I know how you feel guys. I went up these 2 (the other way around from you folks) in April 2007. It was fantastic, great view way up to Ben Nevis, Grey Corries etc and Dalwhinnie and the Cairngorms. So goo I twice led walking groups up there since and had to navigate in clag, clag and more flipping ...

Re: Trig point removal

All hail to the people who went up, I believe during nightime to survey from these Trig Points and All hail to the people who trugged cement up mountains, hills, bog and yes into Maryhill Park,Glasgow to build these wonderful things - the last site is surely the scariest of places to site a trig poi...

Gore Tex patches

I sustained a tear in my waterproff Marmot jacket the other day - sadly not on a 300m grade 3 scramble but just brushing it against a corner post at the Kirkhouse Inn,Strathblane. Although it is quite small I am overconscious of the tear growing. Does anybody have any experience of those Gore Tex pa...

Re: I Kissed a Cairn and I Liked It!

Joly good report. I remember that big rock with the grass growing on the top. And like you I remember it as the wettest walk I have ever...ever been on. That trudge back through the glen seems endless. Would have posted earlier but had to wait till my mum had gone out lest she see a photo of a lady'...

Re: Kintail meet 2011 - 3 from 9 do 7 on the South Cluanie Ridge

jolly good. what a great ridge and I am so glad you got - particularly - the views of Loch Quoich (I love that little bit on the map where it shoots up towards Glen Shiel and you have the little bridge). I am a massive Kintail fan and were it not for the fact I know a wonderful B&B in Dornie I w...

Re: Shropshire Hills: Stiperstones, Brown Clee Hill

I used to go on some great cricket and rugby tours to Shropshire, playing in tiny little places like Craven Arms (when we saw the name in the directions we were given we thought it was a pub we had to look out for).

It is lovely to see some very finbe pics of the county again.

Re: Beinn Bhuela circuit

I agree. Some lovely photos there, particularly of the Lochan and the view down the Clyde. I would love to climb it though as I use Public Transport I think it may need an overnight stay from Glasgow

Walking in a Kintail Wonderland (2)

(Day 2 : Thursday (.......would like to meet someone) The one day of the week that fine weather was forecast, and the weather man was not wrong. After breakfast...to give an idea how great the B&B is let me tell you, I had casually mentioned that I quite liked Fruit Pudding and the lady had made...
