Re: Hills In Lanzarote

If you are staying in Playa Blanca then get the ferry aross to Corralejo on Fuerteventura and then a bus out to Tindaya which is a half decent hill.Don`t know if you still need a permit as it has sacred carvings on the top .I never bothered ,Montana Rojo (?) at the southern end of the Corralejo dun...

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

The traditional 2nd of January bimble with the Munro Meanderers crew, plus Nick Cage in a guest starring role. No summit again for me (now on 4th unsuccessful outing ! !) but an unforgettable one nonetheless. Refreshments and food at the Ben Arthur Bothy and then a short journey home- fantastic. :D ...

We were both wearing kilts. We w...

Re: Hills In Lanzarote

The hills there are not nearly as high as those on the other Canary Islands such as Tenerife and Gran Canaria. I done two small volcano cones when I was there a few years ago, the terrain is dry and dusty and more rocky as you gain height. I done this trip report over on ScottishHills, that'll give...

Re: Hills In Lanzarote

The Sunflower Guides are written for people who go to places where most people want to lie on the beach, but some people don't. We have always found them invaluable in e.g. Madiera, Majorca,Cyprus. There is one on The Algarve. They do variously graded walks and some car trips. https://www.amazon.co...

Re: Hills In Lanzarote

I have only been to Tenerife, one of the islands you will be able to see in the distance. It was rocky and deserty with spikey plants. So stout boots, a wide-brimmed sun hat and lots of water are all necessary. Don't forget the sunbloc. Mount Teide#ii.jpg Tenerife Hotel#iiC.jpg Tenerife#iiC.jpg Jin...

Hills In Lanzarote

Hi Folks

I'm heading to Lanzarote soonish and I was hoping to get some hills done while I'm there.

Any useful information on terrain and accessibility would be gratefully received.

Cheers X
