Re: Garmin inReach Mini

If its switched on, it's in range, so the whole time you're using it.

His point is that sending a tracking point every 10 minutes is overkill, which I'd agree with.

Re: Alternative parking sugarbowl carpark (Cairn Toul-Braeri

I left my van at the ski centre for 3 nights in June, I let them know by email beforehand, and left them details of my route, as they asked.

No worries.

Re: Tent for a tall person

. Thanks for the recommendations mate. I have seen the MSR tents online, they do look awesome, albeit the price is quite expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for. Coogs86 Once you add in postage and import fees, you'll be around the same for a scarp.as you will be for an access, which is a 4...

Re: Tent for a tall person

MSR Hubba, Access, Freelite or Elixir will suit you, I'm 6'2", and have at least another 8" of space above my head - I have a freelite 1 and the 2 person version of the Hubba, which is same length as the 1 person. Scarp too as above, but best of luck actually getting one, when they come in...

Re: Rucksack

Same here cruachan, I have them all packed so that when I get the tent up I know which ones I need in with me, not digging around looking for smaller items, works brilliantly.

Re: Where to avoid the weather this weekend?

To be honest, it's far too early in the week to have any idea of how the weekend will be. I'd plan a couple of options and pick one come Thursday, MWIS only gives 2 days in advance for a reason.

Re: deer flies - keds

I think they go for the hairline or top of your clothing, t shirt etc. They were the same on Arran on Wednesday, they're persistent buggers, not the easiest to swat away.

Re: Walking Etiquette

One piece of walking etiquette that perhaps should be introduced these days. Walkers on a multiple summit route, eg the Ben via CMD, Welsh 3000 footers, etc shouldn't have to wait in 45 minute queues of selfie takers on the popular summits. People who've just arrived from, say, CMD arête or Crib Go...

Re: Mugdock Country Park access.

Someone is at it, as Marty says, LA officer for sure. I contacted North Ayrshire about a 'No access to mountain bikers' sign at a fishery, the idiot that put it up didn't realise theres a core path running right past his water. Sign now removed, and I pedal past at every opportunity now. Well done t...
