Re: Blaven - May contain mild nudity and scenes of a Skye na
A great report Scott, i always thing the return is more dangerous than the ascent. i've encountered Ravens on several Munros but those on Anonach Eagach (see photo) and The Big Bookle seemed the most forthright, i now take a pack of fruit and nuts as tribute. They are clearly intelligent birds and l...

Re: Ring of Steall - A fool falls in
I agree about Stob Ban Graeme, All the better for being totally unexpected; it's now on my to-do list for this year (fingers crossed).

Goatfellas aka. Idiots abroad
This report seems like ancient history; not only is it (for me at least) pre-digital but it’s also pre-parenthood. My first Scottish mountain and very poignant for reasons that will become apparent. I’m not sure about the exact dates so I guessed them, all I remember was that it was May and there wa...

Ring of Steall - A fool falls in
This being one of the great set-piece walks, we had added it to our to-do list last year. Having driven down from Torridon on the 4th and stopping at the Glen Nevis Hostel we could get a full days walking in. As we took almost exactly the WH routes I will only stick to a few notes. 1 - man on a wire...

Beinn Alligin - one of the best
Having driven from Skye to Torridon the preceding afternoon we managed an early start (for us) from the SYA hostel. A short drive down the road to the Coire Mhic Nobuil car park and across the moorland to the foot of Coir nan Laogh took about ¾ hr. One of the great joys of Torridon is the small amou...

Brauch na Frith, our first Munro
This is Ben and I’s third visit to Skye, the first being when he was one, we stayed a week on loch Ainort. The second a single day’s trip from the great Glen in absolutely beautiful weather when we got as far as the Quirang. On this third visit we had the serious intent of climbing/walking up someth...

Re: Sgorr Ruadh,
Ann
thank you. I shall pass this onto my son, who will be taking over photographic duties next time we go. I have a large file of dull photos with occasional decent ones resulting from luck.

Thank you for the tip about the title, if you think that's bad you should hear my pronunciation. So we went too far along the path. I might add a comment in my report; i'd rather not direct people the wrong way. It looks like the Gearr Aonach route might be added to my to do list, we missed out on S...

Bidean nam Bian & Buachallie Etive Berg via Beinn Fhada
our_route.gpx In my later years I thought I would take up wandering to see the hillier parts of the county. For the third year in a row my son Ben and I headed for Scotland in the Summer; previously this had been at the end of the University year but Covid 19 put paid to that in 2020. When rebookin...

Re: Testing Mettle - 1st Solo Munro
Really enjoyed your report, probably the best picture of a caterpillar on the whole website.
My lessons learned were more in the line of: don't go up mountains in a gale.
