Re: What's Your New Years Aspirations?

I was just thinking about the 2013 post - don't think I got on too well. Finally do the West Highland Way and the Berwickshire Coast Path, both of which I meant to do this year. And for daytrips, finish the Forth and Clyde and Union canal paths, and start on the Fife Coastal Path. Finish the Far Eas...

Cold Fell

This was third time lucky. - or possibly revenge. Cold Fell has eluded me twice, once in December when I turned back about half a mile from the summit, and once when I ended up in Ingleton when I mean to be in Carlisle... This time I was determined, so after a bit of rearranging of my original plans...

Kirkstone and Wansfell

(I'm still trying to catch up tidily from the start of the year before I get into the next one...) The main problem with this day may have been that I knew I'd chickened out of walking down over snow the day before. It started off nicely, with a walk along the back way from Patterdale to Hartsop, wh...

Re: Where's the pic (England) v4

I'd never have got it without the clues - my memories of the coast path are mostly open sands and walking miles in my bare feet, although it was late October.

I don't have time to hunt for something more obscure, so name the summit.

Re: Where's the pic (England) v4

Is it the edge of Rumble Churn, just past Dunstanburgh?

Frenchman's Bay? It looks vaguely familiar but I'm not sure from where...

Thanks, I've been a bit crazy busy since the weekend!

Re: Where's the pic (England) v4

Unexpected :)

I'm going to be out more or less constantly now (well, when I'm not asleep) until Sunday night, so you can either all be patient or jump in, I don't mind!

Re: Where's the pic (England) v4

The Cheviot is probably too obvious, but it looks fairly chopped up so worth a try :)

Re: Where's the pic (England) v4

Sorry - I was trying to save it falling off page 1 as I find it so easy to forget about things I can't see, but should have just left it :)

Re: Ben A'an

My favourite is definitely 'Graham Tops of Hewitts' - although I had to look it up to work out where it was :)

Re: High Street at last

I can see that - I'm glad I finally went up that way, and not from Thornthwaite Crag or Mardale Ill Bell as I would have done earlier (and I'm glad I didn't go down that way!). It's just a long way in if you don't have a car - there are obviously easier places than Shap to get to High Street from, b...

High Street at last

Shap may have not been the most sensible place to start this walk, but having committed to it for the day before, that's where I was - and if I wanted to get up Rough Crag, it's not really any easier to get to Mardale from anywhere else. So after a bit of a wander round Shap, taking a few photos of ...

Great Hetha

Three of us this time, as usual on the way home from a Newcastle dance. Parked at Hethpool, along the road until the path cuts up the hill, and up to the top. Back down towards Little Hetha, although we missed the path a bit. Very pretty surroundings - I might have done a proper report if I hadn't f...
