Re: Creag Meagaidh on Tuesday

Chris Townsend was up Bynack More this week - see his blog http://christownsendoutdoors.blogspot.com/ - for a bit more feedback on the snow conditions. It's a good hill and not one of the trickier ones in winter usually

Re: Pavey Ark/Harrison Stickle

Did you have any trouble with any icy bits on the rake?

I actually found Jack's Rake airy in a couple of places nearer the top - the first rake bit was ok but I remember two trickier bits. Mind you I was on a stag do in Langdale at the time  - maybe I had a hangover

Re: Hello / crib goch

Hi Peter and welcome the site! I'd say it was impossible to tell without giving it a go - everyone reacts differently to that sort of thing. Technically it doesn't require any climbing skills or anything; just the same map and compass skills and gear you'd need on any other hillwalk - plus a head fo...

Re: Photobucket / Flickr

I've been looking for a better picture of Lochan Uaine - I'll get the writing cleaned off that one. :D

No rest for us  Most of the areas we're working on now are miles away so research is done in blocks away from home.

Re: Photobucket / Flickr

I've made it 15. I think many more than that and the post could become a bit unwieldy and big for people to download :) We've invested a bit and have quite powerful hosting now so I don't see any problems on that front for a long time - I want to keep it fast. If we get zillions of photos we'll have...

Re: Volunteers!!

I confirm I'll meet up at Lairig Leacach and bring in whatever you need. I'll then join you over Stob Ban :) before heading back to Skye for cottage cleaning :(

Re: Photobucket / Flickr

You can restrict who can see your photos on Flickr (and I guess on photobucket too but I don't know). The problem is that as you say, showing them on those sites from here involves linking to them so if they are restricted then people won't see them here either - and you can't delete them off there ...

Re: Gairich(nearly) & Geal Charn (Monadh Liath)

That's some cold to freeze the Spean like that 8)

I'm ready for a good high pressure spell now too - let's hope we get a spell like last years' April and May...

Hi Chrissy

Glad you enjoyed the walk - I take it you were doing it in the opposite direction!

Re: Monty Hall's Great Escape

Yes, I'm sure it is. I was at Applecross just before New Year but didn't go to Sand that time so don't know what it looks like now - the photos on this site show it as a cattle shed like yours. It is one of the best spots!

Monty Hall's Great Escape

Anyone else watch this? I enjoyed it though nothing really happened - lots of great scenic shots of Applecross and over the sea to Raasay and Skye (a few shots looking to Staffin too!) He did seem to have a bit of a talent for stating the obvious... 'I really feel like I've got away from the big cit...

Re: Waterproofs

So many people have recommended Paramo that I'm going to try it for my next jacket. There must be something in it!

Re: Waterproofs

 It's a very closely-woven double-layed cotton fabric where the weave is actually almost waterproof. It was worn by early climbers and also the Antarctic Explorers (incidentally it is still very extensively used in the antarctic). Much more breathable than gore-tex and nice and soft. http://www...
