Re: Where's the pic England v5
Oh go on, then. I can't pretend I'm not pretty sure its Old Winchester Hill even after the first photo. But I didn't have time to look for images then, but should over the weekend....if I'm right. Correct, one of my regular walks when I lived a few miles north of it. Pleasant place and unspoilt. Yo...

Re: things that have lasted
Me! Surprisingly. Well, you had 8 ceturies or so concealed in the Lewis machair before you had to face the onslaught of the late 20th century. That must have set you up for a long life. Aye, that, and the limited opportunities for berserking these days, has kept from the grim reaper. Not that I hav...

Re: Peacock butterfly
They're out and about here too, overwinterers waking up. Also a small tortie yesterday and Brimstones have been evident for a week or so. Spring is here at last, evidenced by my "Leonard Messel" magnolia in bloom

Re: Can I have a "P" please Bob - Scotland (2nd edition)
The Hjaltadans stone circle on Fetlar is said to be frozen Trows (trolls) who only came out at night. They loved music and were playing so hard they failed to notice the sun coming up and became frozen in situ. Only uncovered this because of your known interests of stone circles and folklore! Quite...

Re: Best base for hiking without a car?
Crianlarich is hard to beat, so much great walking from there, can get the bus or train to Tyndrum and bridge of orchy for more masses of hills. I'd second Crianlarich. Lots of good hills and walks close by and buses to Tyndrum and other spots on the A85. I've stayed in the Best Western hotel there...
