Down with the Royals, up on the Coyles!

When I had done a wee Friday night off the radar bothy with Allan and Colin just before Christmas, they had mentioned a weekend in January at Stag bothy up on the Alvie Estate near Aviemore which I might be interested in attending. I was, and promptly bagged the date on the family calendar. Plans th...

Re: Beinn Donachain

I have such great memories of this hill for a number of reasons - the fact that it is a great wee hill and wonderful viewpoint for bigger and more illustrious neighbours and I was fortunate enough to get it on a glorious spring evening, the fact that it was my first hill walk in the immediate afterm...

Re: The Storr - a beauty easily missed

Quite lamentable that in my fairly long and varied hill walking career I have not yet managed to do this route! Your photos certainly do a great job of showcasing what I have missed and I agree about the dusting of snow. Those pictures look fantastic and do really seem to add that extra touch...

Re: The incredible power of awe - Sgor Gaoith winter summit

     Great to see you back to close to full form. Hopefully Malky recovers from this pretty quickly - I'm sure there must be therapy groups that specialise in this particular area. Great photos of day into night and night into day and brilliant to see the Sgor Gaoith bu...

Re: An Cù .Tha na laithean a' dol Seachad... the days flash

Very saddened to hear this sad news Colla. I know from personal experience that this would not have been an easy report to write in many ways, but at the same time may have been rather cathartic. I often go back and read the reports I wrote about the passing of Lucy in 2018 and they always give me a...

Re: Ghostbusters

Sometimes on overnighters it's more of a feeling of being very small in a huge landscape. But that's just an appraisal of your own circumstances, nothing supernatural. I've had that feeling numerous times. It's a great feeling. As for being followed in the hills, I've never felt that, unless of cou...

Boom boom!

Had a we listen to this podcast on spotify while driving to work this morning. Lasted about 7 or 8 minutes and then had to switch it off. Horrendously over-dramatic and sensationalised guff from what I heard!

Re: Supernatural experiences in Luibeilt bothy

I frequently carry several cans of beer into bothies and when I awake the next morning, they have mysteriously all disappeared!

Great photos, especially the one of Loch Treig looking like a sheet of glass! 8)

No sign of the mental hound at the house beside the track at the very start?

Re: Ben More and Stob Binnein - feels like a long 7 miles

Lovely atmospheric photos! Years since I did this pair on what was not the most enjoyable of days. Must pay them an overdue return visit some time.
