Me too, the Honey is a British legend.

That site has the ideal storm kettle for hiking, small, nothing to snag, takes a Trangia etc.

Re: Gas Canister Kinlochleven

I used the Kinlochleven Co-Op during last summer, saw nothing for camping.

Agreed about a spirit burner over a Jetboil. Or if they're at low level with all the twigs about, how about a Kelly Kettle?

Re: Digital Maps and GPS for the Alps

You can use your own render interface, I have one that's based on OS so it has that look.

Bear in mind the primary benefit of TT vs OSM is TT adds NASA topographic detail.

Re: Digital Maps and GPS for the Alps

Oruxmaps is a way of using Garmin IMG files on a mobile phone.

I got the idea from... the Talky Toaster site!

Re: Digital Maps and GPS for the Alps

TalkyToaster does the OSM plus Topographic data bundle for many places including the Alps.

If you don't have a Garmin device you can use Oruxmaps on Android to load them.

Re: Heated Gloves

An active warming thing to consider is a Zippo Hand Warmer. Reusable and last hours. It claims 12 hours but people have had them running close to 24 hours. Another suggestion might be mittens not gloves. I have the British Army artic mittens, very inexpensive. They come as a 2-pair pack. The inner p...

In terms of Metric Munroes (height >1000m) there are 88 Giants (prominence >200m) and further 42 Dwarfs (prominence >100m, <200m).

Re: New Grahams!!!

Our man who has trademarked the list sounds like the sort of guy who has to send himself birthday cards but when he opens them he's upset there isn't any money with the card.

Re: Brand levels

The high-tech stuff being made in Far Asia is heavily, heavily overseen by the western production lines.

Indigenously, China was unable to make the ball-point pen until 2017, some 75 years after the West.

Re: New Grahams!!!

"the overrated hills" That got me too. I hope they were merely imprecise with language and meant something more along the lines of over-visited or over-congested. Overrated as in "rated or valued too highly". Oh, so you really did mean to say the stupid version. Fair enough.

Re: New Grahams!!!

Imagine the outrage if the Munros went metric.

    Munro 1000m+
    Corbett 750-1000m
    Grayham 500-750m
    Hugh < 500m

Logical, far more than starting Munros at 900m, but my goodness can you imagine the howls of outrage from Highland Hospitality?
