Re: Anyone doing the Ben Lawers Range this weekend?

You can say what you want about our weather but on weekends like this, 6 hills a ridge walk and a wild camp, nothing else in the world beats it

Re: Tent help

I've got the Vango Banshee 200 which comes in at around 2KG

Cracking tent for the price I paid £75 from Go Outdoors.

The only complaint I have with it is that it doesn't have a spinal pole to make it free standing

Re: Can I have a 'P' please Bob - Scotland

BUMP! Well, seeing as nobody took up the offer I shall carry on with a new question. On my second day of the West Highland Way I fear my navigation did go astray. At one point I thought I'd need to go back, but instead continued, through swamp and bush I did hack. Alas the route I came upon once mo...

Re: Anyone doing the Ben Lawers Range this weekend?

Are you doing the whole range? What were you thinking re start time? I was hoping to do these sometime in the next couple of months, weather permitting ( ), this weekend would be good. I was planning on leaving Gourock about 0500 - 0530 so arrival would be around 7 (trying to beat the crowds)...

Re: Water Purifying Tablets

I do carry them if I have to take water from a pool (non moving water), if it's a moving stream then no tablets.

I've always got some isotonic powder in my rucksack to mask the taste of said tablets, minging isn't the word

Re: Controversial Confessions

1. Despite covering a silly amount of miles over the years, I'm still blowing out my arse on ascents

2. I have played on the railway

3. I have gotten lost on clear days

4. Any more and I'll be banned from the hills forever and probably end up with a knock on my front door

Re: Wild Camping options - Non Touristy

Well folks, had a wee change of plan. A hard day at work was spent checking routes, double checking and then changing my mind

Decided to pack my tent and head for Ben Lawers and do the range before (depending on how I feel) Meall a Choire Leith & Meall Chornaich on Sunday

Re: Wild Camping options - Non Touristy

Thanks for the replies folks, I'll probably head up north when work quietens down and I can get a long weekend. I'm going to head up to Tyndrum this weekend to boost my Munro count slightly and depending how knackered I am I might stay over (wild camping of course 8) ) and tackle the Bridge Of Orchy...

Re: Beginner Hiker looking for buddies

I'm usually out doing something at weekend (weekdays when I get the chance)

Heading up to Tyndrum this weekend,

I'm not the fittest but still manage to drag my carcass up and down hills and mountains

Re: Wild Camping options - Non Touristy

It was 2 full days of walking and 2 nights of camping. That was with both of us having 65L rucksacks full of stuff we didn't really need. Depending on what you had with you, you could easily stretch it out to a week (there's plenty of variation in the terrain) or if you were traveling light, I reck...

Re: Wild Camping options - Non Touristy

I was thinking of a good circular or a half day walk in, walk out, only for the one night (sat)

I'd prefer not to gain too much height, my legs and back probably aren't up to ut
