Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

In both England and Scotland, the current law is to "Stay home" except for specified exceptions - the exceptions for exercise/recreation don't include overnight stays. In England this is expected to change on 12th April, Step 2. Logically, wild-camping is self-contained accommodation. As s...

Re: Unable to 'tick off' hills from posts or map

Blimey, thanks for raising this, the database column had ran out of numbers as so many Munros have been ticked off. It's now got 10x as many available, so should work again now.

Re: Search Function

Very few people used the old search, as it appeared so complicated at first glance. Use of the new one is about 10x more popular. Where on the old one you had to choose the 'Walkhighlands' region(s) and have some understanding of our boundaries, the new one works out from any map location you enter ...

Re: Unable to 'tick off' hills from posts or map

Tagging reports with hills doesn't mark them as being climbed on your bagging maps - the bagging maps are a ticklist and are not connected to reports. Obviously you shouldn't get that error though. Was there a particular hill you were trying to mark climbed that gave you that error? It would be help...

Re: Little Mell Fell missing from Wainwright Map

All hills that were trying to cross the Irish Sea, in breach of Coronavirus restrictions, have now been rounded up and are being forced to stay at home for 14 days.

Re: Outdoor Access right to roam

We looked blankly at her, and were like, "Uh, okay," and continued on our way. The track has no signs directing hillwalkers elsewhere or saying anything at all, and the gates were all unlocked. Plus, it's the most logical route down. The track passed within view of some outbuildings, but ...

Re: ViewRanger

This will get you the route line, but not the full WH route description for offline use. It's the latter ("premium routes") that Viewranger have scrapped, and we're considering options for (I realise not relevant to people who don't want that).

Re: Hewitt list changes

Thanks poppies, made the changes but not the pic yet. If you were happy for us to use the one of it in your report and credit to you then I'll do that.

Re: ViewRanger/OutdoorActive Merging

At risk of going off-topic to reply (sorry - let's get back on topic after this!): Most importantly, Bing Maps licence doesn't allow their maps to be stored and used offline. Re: ViewRanger/OutdoorActive Merging

We're as upset about this as anyone, but remember you should be able to use Walkhighlands gpx files with just about any app, as long as they don't republish them. I would caution against using apps that have a very low fixed cost and then let you download all OS maps for unlimited use offline. These...

Re: Maps

I am logged in as rmse047071 and can get the 1:50000 maps on GPS but not on the maps associated with the walk descriptions? Some confusion here. To be clear, there are no OS 1:50k maps on the GPS planner , only the Walkhighlands-own 1:50k maps (and OS 1:25k maps). On described route maps, you shoul...
