Re: Ceapabhal

Amazing views of Scarista beach - now that's what I call a beach holiday  We often joke about the beautiful beeches of Fyvie Castle grounds because, I suppose, we never spend much time at the beach so quite spellbinding to go along that coastline; I suppose if you're going to go to a beach it ...

Re: Ceapabhal

Nice one. Your photo 2 is almost the same view as that for May in my Colin Prior 2014 calendar currently hanging above my desk here in London. I was in the Uists in March walking on those beautiful deserted beaches, and it's making me want to go back already. Probably just shows that great photogra...

Can also recommend Roineabhal -great view over North Uist.

There's certainly no shortage of hills there and the coastline is something to behold.

Ceapabhal

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xF4XJSTp00 A warm up for my walk up Conachair the next day. I first went up Ceapabhal ten years ago during a week long winter stay on Harris so roughly I knew what to expect but ten years is quite a long time so it still felt like a new walk in many ways. The approac...

Certainly is. Was looking to try to get to Foula again too this week because of the weather but just couldn't fit it in with work. Never mind, I'm probably better off pacing myself.

It is an amazing place. The hill walking, the ruins and their history, the trip around the sea stacs and the wildlife all combine to make it an unforgettable experience. Nice weather helps too of course!

Re: Conachair

What an amazing trip. Were there a lot of people from the cruise ship on shore? Loved you photos of the views and birds - a very special place indeed. We were either lucky or the boat crew had the timing well planned. There were 197 from the cruise ship but they were pretty much ending their visit ...

Really glad I went and so lucky with the weather. Conachair cliffs even more impressive from beneath than from above.

Re: castle in the air

Enjoyed that - have never been to Arran. Good to see that your back is getting stronger. Nothing like exercise for keeping us healthy! Arran is a lovely place to visit -as well as the more prominent eastern hills there are the Pirnmills I the west and lots of interesting coastline. Easy to get arou...

Re: Meeting the puffins at Sumburgh Head!

Great pictures there, those puffins are very cute. Saw loads of them in the ocean off Boraraigh last Friday.

Conachair and St Kilda

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp3C9LKNv80 Got an email on Wednesday night indicating that my rescheduled St Kilda trip was on for Friday. Failing to find excuses not to go I quickly booked my flight and accommodation. My initial plan would also have included a train journey but I had a last minute...

Re: Sannox-Cir Mhor-Caisteal Abhail- Sail an Im horseshoe

You've got some great pictures there that really evoke the feel of the place. Was on part of your route the day before you. The easy bit! Took my wife along the witch's step ridge the year after we got married and only then discovered her comfort level with scrambling. Never mind, we do still occasi...

Re: Beinns a'Chochuill & Eunaich: Sunburn, in Scotland, in A

Excellent, entertaining report. A sunny day with a little bit of snow left is a great prize and those are good hills for such a day. Good to see this report as these are on my list of train attainable hills. Been on Chochuiil before but not t'other so useful to see a description of both. Some great ...
