Re: Name that Loch!

That's the one.

It was so cold that day that by the time I had taken the canoe from the loch to the car there was a layer of frost on it.

Not that one.

Re: Name that Loch!

I've canoed on that one a couple of times, so here's another I've paddled on.

Where did I take this frosty paddle.

Re: Name that Loch!

Loch Meadie, just northwest of Altnaharra, and that would be Ben Loyal in the distance.

Re: Name that Loch!

Loch Eilde Mor on the left, Blackwater Reservoir on the right and I reckon we are looking from Garbh Bheinn.

Re: Campervans

How can the ranger move people on in Glen Brittle….has there been some bylaws introduced? My undersatnding is that the right to wild camp is only applicable to those who are travelling on foot, by bike, on horseback or by canoe or similarly self propelled craft. No right within the access law permi...

Re: Campervans

That may be an excuse but not necessarily a reason not to pull over. If someone catches up to me when I'm going at the speed limit...

Re: Tent ruined by machine wash?

I conducted an experiment with an old (40 years) rucksack that has a PU coated extension that has gone very sticky. I rubbed talc onto the surface (you should be able to get non scented talc). It seemed to cure the stickiness as I presume it forms a coat over the sticky PU. As an additional experime...

Re: Storr

Great report, not sure why it's on public view. If it's warning us that it is windy and rainy on Skye - thanks. Looking out the window - it's windy and not raining just now but I can't see the top of the Storr for low cloud. Typical August, the misty month, on Skye, the others are just wet and wind...

Inclined to agree with that, initial reaction on seeing the picture was that the proportions didn't look right for an eagle.

Re: Invercauld car park - ok to stay overnight?

Having looked at the estate's website http://www.invercauld.estate/walks-climbs/index.html I get the impression that using their car park to camp would not be an option.
