Re: Blackwater Reservoir - Christmas Day

What a great way to spend Christmas Day - I ate so much lunch I could hardly move on a kilometer-long road circuit in the Braes - but it was just enough for the lunch to move a little further down. Sounds like you might be getting more into walking next year!

Here's to announce another new feature to the Forum. As well as including photos in your posts and trip reports, if you use GPS software you can now include interactive OS maps with your walk tracklog marked on :D To do so, all you need to is save your tracklog from your mapping software in GPX form...

Re: Munro wish list

Hi Buachaille I'm glad to say we've now made it so you can add what we've called 'Notes'. These can be associated with any combination of Munros, Corbetts, Grahams, or Walkhighlands routes, and can contain whatever you like, such as dates you climbed them, weather, companions or whatever it is you'd...

Re: Input on new features wanted...

..bit more work...

Everyone's profile now shows all their trip reports. This makes your profile a bit like a blog as your friends could look to see what you've been upto lately.

Re: walking plans 2009

i only started doing munros this year and have to say ive caught the bug big time there's no real cure :D Staying at the Cluanie Inn should give you a good boost. My plans for next year: Explore north Sutherland and southern Argyll. Explore the lower hills of Lochalsh and Torridon. Do more walking ...

Re: Input on new features wanted...

I've just completed the second of the changes- the enhancements to the mountain pages so that the trip reports are more obvious. I've also moved the lists of users who have bagged the peak to the bottom and used the full width, as the lists are getting long for things like Ben Nevis.

Re: new user/virgin munroe bagger

Welcome to the site. Yes, heading up hills is certainly a great way to get rid of all those mince pies we're eating at the moment :)

Re: Input on new features wanted...

i can’t see the point in making trip reports private Some people are telling me they want to use the site to record things such as dates etc. of when they climbed hills, but don't want to write a trip report - so this would be a way of them helping to keep a personal log - obviously I'd much rather...

Input on new features wanted...

We've had a number of requests from people wanting to store more info about their hills climbed, such as dates, weather etc. We had been thinking of adding a date field to the update screens but think we have a better idea. Would you like to see an option for any of your submitted 'trip reports' to ...

Re: take the train

If you check 24 hours before travel you can sometimes pick up a sleeper one-way for £19 I think - 'Bargain berths'.

Re: Ben Vane..dec 10th 08

Really stunning pics - super sharp too.

As to 'Where's wally?' - could he be the black blob just to the right of the rock maybe?

Re: new ghram map.

That's right. The lowest point between Ben Our and the Munro Ben Vorlich is 651 metres. As Ben Our is only a bit over 730m there would need to be a drop down to about 580m between it and Ben Vorlich for it to be considered a separate mountain (and therefore a Graham). So Ben Our is actually consider...
