Re: Links to Routes on ViewRanger app removed?

Need to distinguish here between our GPX files, and the Premium WH routes you used to be able to buy in Viewranger. The latter included the full offline route description and photos etc. GPX files., on the other hand, are the route line data with no description etc. We make these available for all o...

Re: Links to Routes on ViewRanger app removed?

Viewranger should still allow you to use any WH routes you have purchased within Viewranger. It's just that nobody can purchase any more routes now - so if we kept the link, it would just be a broken link for everyone else. You can still import our GPX files into Viewranger as well as OSMaps (or man...

Re: Search Function

Sorry, been working on this. Have just added a filter for routes with Munros, Corbetts, Grahams.

Re: Beinn Udlaidh - Beinn Bhreac Liath new plantation forest

There's a complaint in with the access officer about the fence. If anyone else who has seen it wanted to raise it as well it will help get a stile put in sooner.

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

Sorry, that is correct (and the original post has been edited). But sadly doesn't help with any wider recreational travel. Arguably it might permit wild camping in your own local authority - will see if any clarity on that, but probably not helpful for most people.

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

The Scottish statement has now been made. Basically, we are staying in level 4 until 26th April. [corrected] At that point it is hoped that all Scotland will be moved to Level 3 restrictions. However, under Level 3, there is still no travel for more than 5 miles outside your local authority area. Su...

Re: Long distance walks under new lockdown guidelines

In both England and Scotland, the current law is to "Stay home" except for specified exceptions - the exceptions for exercise/recreation don't include overnight stays. In England this is expected to change on 12th April, Step 2. Logically, wild-camping is self-contained accommodation. As s...

Re: Unable to 'tick off' hills from posts or map

Blimey, thanks for raising this, the database column had ran out of numbers as so many Munros have been ticked off. It's now got 10x as many available, so should work again now.

Re: Search Function

Very few people used the old search, as it appeared so complicated at first glance. Use of the new one is about 10x more popular. Where on the old one you had to choose the 'Walkhighlands' region(s) and have some understanding of our boundaries, the new one works out from any map location you enter ...

Re: Unable to 'tick off' hills from posts or map

Tagging reports with hills doesn't mark them as being climbed on your bagging maps - the bagging maps are a ticklist and are not connected to reports. Obviously you shouldn't get that error though. Was there a particular hill you were trying to mark climbed that gave you that error? It would be help...

Re: Little Mell Fell missing from Wainwright Map

All hills that were trying to cross the Irish Sea, in breach of Coronavirus restrictions, have now been rounded up and are being forced to stay at home for 14 days.

Re: Outdoor Access right to roam

We looked blankly at her, and were like, "Uh, okay," and continued on our way. The track has no signs directing hillwalkers elsewhere or saying anything at all, and the gates were all unlocked. Plus, it's the most logical route down. The track passed within view of some outbuildings, but ...

Re: ViewRanger

This will get you the route line, but not the full WH route description for offline use. It's the latter ("premium routes") that Viewranger have scrapped, and we're considering options for (I realise not relevant to people who don't want that).
