Re: Lovely Autumnal Stroll

Doh. DIdn't word my post as well as I could have. Meant the Scottish Borders, as in the regional authority/area. Plenty of decent smaller hills west of the A74 to your teeth into. Been meaning to backfill some trip reports there for ages.

Re: Lovely Autumnal Stroll

Appreciate the name check Martin and it's nice to see this hill again. I enjoyed it very much. Twislehope -or the signage at least- looks like its had a makeover. What's happened to all the hounds though? They were queuing up at the bars when I passed by. Must have been 20 or 30. Maybe they get wint...

Re: Winter waterproof dog coat

Hi Folks, This is a timely and useful thread. Been meaning to replace one of my Border Terriers coat for a while now and wasn't sure where to start looking. Always better to get tried and tested recommendations from fellow hill walkers. Based on the replies, I've now put an order in for a Hurrta Sum...

Re: Pentland destruction

I was also out there the other week without a camera. Have you made contact with the park (<span class="skimlinks-unlinked">http://www.pentlandhills.org/feedback</span>). Hi, Don't know if the original poster has or hasn't but I'm aware of this damage too. Spoken with the Pentland Hills R...

Re: An Teallach in amazing Weather

Excellent video 👍 Thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly the drone footage of your lunch stop. You've clearly got a talent for these things but I'm sure a lot of work went into the finished product too. Some great family memories for you both. Well done.

Re: Sweating It Out In Galloway

Enjoyed that report and the pics Ian. Sounds like a 'character building' couple of days  Seriously though, that's a big outing in rough country. Plus you had the bike run and the heat. Well done   I was up and down that Loch Valley track two or three times in pursuit of the Donalds....

Re: Another Borders visit, Satnav satisfaction

Nice to see some pics and another report on these two 👍 Enjoyed them very much. Spot on with this: 'These hills are an excellent example of what Marilyns are all about, occasional tracks, ATV tracks, tussocky grass and of course forests.' It's exactly that -and the probability of not encountering an...

Re: Can anyone suggest some longer distance Pentland routes?

Hi Tammy, Like you, I'm a big fan of the Pentlands. Been tramping them for many years. I'd suggest having a look at 2 books: 'The Pentlands Hills: A Walkers Guide' by Susan Falconer and 'The Pentland Hills' by Rab Anderson. Both have routes starting from, or taking in, Harlaw and/or Thriepmuir and m...

Re: 3 Marilyns = 7.5km

Good little report 👍 Interesting for me to see photos of the eastern approach to Rubers Law. Think you made a good choice. Personally, I found coming from Denholm on a to the south disappointing. Just a thought on Belling Hill. When I did the hill in February last year, I didn't find a cairn. What I...

Re: Conditions on Arrochar Alps

Hi Rhian,

We were up The Cobbler today. Just small patches of snow left in shaded areas. No issues and imagine it'll all be gone soon. Conditions on Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain looked much the same.

Largo Law - Finishing the Kingdom Subs

Map: OS 1:50,000, no. 59 Attendees: Me, Big Dog, Small Dog Time taken: 1hr I’d been shying away from Largo Law. Probably because information about access with dogs sounded so proscriptive. No access between March and November? Each year? Every year? Eh? I can’t imagine walking without my two these d...
