I too do not speak metric :) but my longest must be the 20 miles and 7500 feet of ascent, doing a full round of the entire Beinn Eighe ridge from Kinlochewe, in about 12 hours. According to the internet that's 32k and 2300 meters in 5,184,000 jiffys ;)

Most UK mapping is done by Ordnance Survey, and even the ones that aren't use their grid reference system. It's essential to understand it.

I can't stand tripods, it's like wrestling with an angry octopus. Learn to brace your arms and breathe slowly. These days with digital and noise reduction I'll increase the ISO before I'll be bothered to arse about with tripods.
