Silbury Hill it is. Was wondering whether to crop it out altogether and see if it would be recognised from its surroundings.

Your go.

Not sure I would have got if from the surroundings alone - but even a tiny hint of the the man-made slope gives it away (and you left far more than that).

Re: How did 2014 go?

Overall not bad, main aim was to get out more - more than 1 week in Lakes and a trip or two to South Wales (that has been the norm for a few years now). So: Two trips to the Lakes - including one for the Woolpack Walk. About 30 Wainwrights in all this year - with 25 being new ones, taking my total t...

Re: GPS Advice

How much are Open Source maps? Can you get 1:50 000? Are they as good as OS? THIS IS WHATS CONFUSING ME!!!! Thanks for the replies! Opensourcemaps don't have a scale as such as they are computer based. 1:50,000 means 1cm on your map = 50,000 cm or 0.5km in reality. But on a computer the screen coul...

Re: Seat Sandal and Saint Sunday Crag

I would definitely consider waiting for frozen ground for Bleaberry, High Seat, High Tove and Armboth, not unless you fancy bog snorkeling :D Been there done that - one of our party vanished up to the the thighs! N - you needed to carry on a bit before descending from Birks - then turn right away f...

Re: Lakes Day 3 - Lingmell/Scafell Pike/Great End

Wow, you had great weather, and the excellent pics give a powerful impression of the wonderful countryside. I did a similar route last year, but starting at Wasdale Head: Yewbarrow, then Red Pike, Kirk Fell, Great Gable, Great End, Broad Crag, Scafell Pike, Lingmell, and Scafell - supposed to be on...

Lakes Day 3 - Lingmell/Scafell Pike/Great End

Several of our group where keen to do Scafell Pike - so good weather on Wednesday provided the opportunity for a trip to Lingmell/Scafell Pike via the Corridor Route with a stop off at Great End on the way back. There are lots of free routes available (and some that cost). When finished you upload your tracks to the web site it can automatically sync with yo...
