Re: Carn a' Gheoidh

I really like that walk out to Carn a Gheoidh - it feels quite wild and remote and certainly that day we had in winter was just superb re colours and light. I thought the wee pointed summit might be Lochnagar? Lovely photos of the mountain hares, love seeing them though we had the horrible experienc...

Glen Cluny - beehives now in place?

Passed through the glen a couple of weeks back and noticed, in a few spots I know of as wild camping places, that what looked like beehives had been placed there.Lots and lots of them! Also further up the glen near the car parking for Cairn of Claise walk. Does anyone know if that is indeed what the...

Re: Routes Less Travelled: B.Macdui and Cairngorm via Loch A

Fantastic scenery. It highlights what I could have seen earlier this month had it not been a 70% chance of cloud free munros clag and driving rain-fest day when I was up in the central Cairngorms. What a shame! Yes it's some place - hope you get to see it in better conditions next time. Looked like...

Re: Routes Less Travelled: B.Macdui and Cairngorm via Loch A

Thank you, past my sell by date! Great to hear you enjoyed the report and pics.Yes, the weather was perfect. That was a great way to do it...a through route. 👍 Though not without its moments too :o Noticed the lovely sand at the bottom of that river - the whole place in the conditions we had was mag...

Re: A few days in Shetland

'Your Snowy Owl sighting sounds good - I'd probably have mistaken it for a cat!' That would have been a better guess than me- from a distance, I thought it was a white plastic bag which had blown against the fence  We only found it because the Ranger at the reserve told us roughly where t...

Routes Less Travelled: B.Macdui and Cairngorm via Loch Avon

How did I manage not to see this amazing place for so...

Re: A few days in Shetland

What a great report of a wildlife watcher's paradise! Basking sharks too - wonderful. There is an Orca pod around Shetland but I wasn't lucky enough to see them. Lovely photos you got in particular of the phalaropes. Such relaxed divers too, love seeing them but they are usually some way off. ...

Re: Three generations on Liathach - a dream come true

Terrific! Well done ten times over   and I SO admire your ability to cope with that exposure. Your path photos (best I've seen) have convinced me finally :) that it's no place for me - I'd never make it from very early on on that ridge. My husband has been trying to persuade me to climb ...

Re: Aborted Cruachan 4: horror show bivvy on Beinn Eunaich

What a shame!! These are such magical hills in half decent weather. Next time!🤞 That's a brutal ascent you chose up Eunaich - just a thought, but I wonder whether it might have been better heading up the excellent track until it runs out, then bivvying in more shelter a distance below the bealach be...

Re: Eaval - Eagles, Owls and a Tricky River Crossing

It was amazing Alteknacker - just travelling around the Uists, anywhere really, is incredible for great bird sightings. There's also a brilliant 2 hour boat trip from Kallin harbour (Lady Anne boat trips) which is superb for wildlife watching. http://www.uistboattrips.com Really nice guy that runs th...

Eaval - Eagles, Owls and a Tricky River Crossing

North Uist is an annual fixture on the holiday calendar or should I say ‘fix’.’ I love it. This May we weren’t blessed with great weather but there were one or two days which bathed the islands and their fabulous beaches in sunshine, showing them off at their best. https://live.staticflickr.com/4259...
