Re: Multi-day winter Munro rounds

The Fannichs might be considered. There are reports from people who have traversed them all. Depending on the snow conditions some of the ascents/descents could be challenging especially with the weight you will be carrying.

Re: wading socks/shoes

I also use Beach shoes, also known as Aqua shoes. Apart from water crossings, I use them at night in and around the tent once the boots are off and when in a hostel or B&B.

Re: Cape Wrath Trail Vlog 2018

Enjoyed your report. You were unlucky to have such poor weather, although August is recognised as being a wet month. I wouldn't have had the tenacity to set up all those static camera positions, which must have taken time both to set up and then go back to recover the camera. Your planned daily calo...

Re: A warm jacket for stops during hiking?

Will this item be part of your overall layering system. If not, why carry the extra weight. When I stop, I just add further layers even putting on the waterproof shell when the temperature is cool.

Re: Angles Way: Diss Roydon Fen circular

Not as long as some viewers of this forum might expect. I assume someone can put it into the correct category.

Re: CWT Food

Your mountain routes means you might have to take a bit of food for a few days for the Knoydart area alone. There is a hotel at Shiel Bridge. It might be worth asking if you could send a parcel there, as if you have to restock in that area there is not much in the garage and you may possibly have t...

Re: Cape Wrath Trail Fast and Light: 230 miles in 11 days

Brilliant report and so much useful information it is incredible. Would you recommend this for a semi fit but very experienced hillwalker/rock climber who is ow aged 64? Allan Age is no barrier. I have completed the walk twice since retiring. Don't book accommodation in advance, this can put you on...

Re: Leki Micro Vario pole cord jammed

The cord can get twisted over time and then jams. Try untwisting it. The visible cord will get longer if you are twisting it in the right direction. That worked for me.

Re: Base layers

Just back from my local ALDI store. Noticed that they have merino baselayers in for £25. They are advertised as being for motorcyclists.

Re: Base layers

Keep checking the Aldi website. They occasionally have merino baselayers at a reasonable price.

Re: BRIDGE CROSSING AT ACHNASHELLACH

Definitely no bridge. Used that route myself in April. There are deer fence access points either side of the river which is easily waded if the river is not in flood. The bank on the Achnnashellach side had been washed away earlier In the year but we were able to scramble up.

Re: Boots

Bramwell International are the UK distributors for Meindl. You should contact them if you don't get satisfaction from the shop you bought them from. [url]http://www.meindl.co.uk/contact/url]

They are based near Kendal and have their own repairers.

Re: Cape Wrath trail questions and concerns

Unfortunately there is something called the Cape Wrath Ultra being held 20 May to 29 May. I can't put the url in so google cape wrath ultra for details. Depressingly, these so called "organised" events fall back on the emergency services when there plans fall apart. Hopefully your trip wil...

Re: Cape Wrath Trail Fast and Light: 230 miles in 11 days

Great report with plenty of information to help others planning to make the walk. To correct one point. Anyone doing the walk out of season (May-Sep), or when the ferry isn't running, can walk to Durness from Cape Wrath by continuing around the coast and fording the two rivers that flow into the Kyl...

Re: Steripen

Had a steripen for about 4 years. We use a platypus 1litre bottle with the steripen. It is light and folds away when not in use. The batteries can be a problem when the temperature is low. I now carry the steripen and any spare batteries close to my body to keep them warm.
