Beinn Eibhinn and Aonach Beag my 200th Munro

A big day last Sunday as I was meeting up with several hillwalking friends to tackle Beinn Eibhinn and Aonach Beag. We were doing the walk anti clockwise and this would make Aonach Beag my 200th Munro and it turned out to be a glorious sunny day on the hills. Not many of them so far this year. IMG_4...

Aonach Beag and Aonoch Mor

Due to the poor weather we had the past month and a wedding the wife and I were at the previous weekend, I was having withdrawal symptoms and also running behind the hill walking programme that I had set out for May and June. On Friday evening I drove up to Fort William and stayed overnight with fri...

Sgurr a' Mhaoraich on a grey day

On Friday evening I drove up to Ft. William with my wife to visit her friend for the weekend and on Saturday morning I set off early to Loch Quoich to walk up Sgurr a' Mhaoraich. When I arrived at the small parking area about 1km south of the bridge over the small section of the loch that goes north...

Re: Walk Highlands Meet Kintail 9th to 11th September

I camped at Shielbridge campsite last August and it was fine. Only hassle was midges first thing in the morning before the sun got up over the hill to chase them away. Graeme I'm hoping to make this one but am thinking of camping (very light sleeper unlikely to get any sleep in KOC..... ) - ...

Re: Sgurr nan Coireachan and Sgurr Thulim

I did these in great weather last August. Would not fancy doing them in the conditions you had, though well done.

Sparrowhawk

These photos were taken from my back window last week of a female Sparrowhawk. First time that I have seen a bird of prey in the back garden. It is usually robins, bluetits and grey squirrels.

Re: Ben Challum reprise

Hi
Did this walk last Saturday with some friends and it looks as if there has been fresh snow since then. Yes a good hill to climb.

Re: Bidean nam Bian via Dinner-Time Buttress

kinley wrote::D Nice one - someone mentioned this route to me recently. Not explored that area of Bidean yet so will do some research.

Up there in 10 days so you never know 8)

Well worth doing if you have not done Bidean by the normal route.

Re: Bidean nam Bian via Dinner-Time Buttress

Wow that definitely looks like hands rather than poles territory! :o I'm amazed you managed to find a way up there! Would be helpful if you could draw the line of the route on the last photo :D I have added a new photo with a more straight on view. You can see a large gap and a smaller gap to the l...

Re: Bidean nam Bian via Dinner-Time Buttress

The DT Buttress route is on my 'to do list' but there is a traverse across to Ossian's cave which I hope to include. Shame about the clag on top. I was lucky. Did it on a perfectly clear day December 27th 2008. It's high time I got back up there as Bidean is a superb hill. I will do again sometime ...

Re: Bidean nam Bian via Dinner-Time Buttress

Nice one Les, Shame about the mist though. Nice picture with the buttress crock piles. Going up there in two weeks time so I hope to get better weather :D It was a good route though mist spoiled it on the ridge as you could see pinnacles sticking up from the corries on our left side in the mist. Ho...

Bidean nam Bian via Dinner-Time Buttress

IMG_4790_edited-1.jpg We set off from the car park at Achnambeithach on the A82 next to Loch Achtriochtan. The hills on the south side of Glencoe were covered in heavy mist, though looking north the hills were clear. IMG_4779_edited-1.jpg We headed south east from the car park to the buttress follo...
