Not the report it was meant to be

This was supposed to be a walk report for the Glenshee six from Friday, but thanks to a dropped camera somewhere between Tolmount and Carn an Tuirc, that's not going to happen. But hey-ho the camera was old and while a bit annoyed at my own stupidity, wasn't too upset about having to buy a new toy. ...

Dogs out of control

Was up Ben Lawers early this morning, returning via the 'low path'. At the point where it meets the main path, about 100 yards ahead, a dog was chasing a clearly terrified sheep down the hill. It gained on the sheep and managed to sink it's teeth into it's tail, dragging the sheep to the ground. The...

Bynack More, Autumn Gold

Since I hadn't done any wild camping this summer, decided to use the half term holiday and kept an eye out for good weather. Monday looked good, so thought that Bynack More would be a good option as I'd always fancied camping at the bridge near Strath Nethy. Leaving Stirling the weather was grey, bu...

Re: Aonach Eagach, Id do it everyday!

We did it last Saturday, have a day off next Friday and think we might even go back and do it again (weather permitting), but with two minor changes : 1/ I'll take your descent rather than the long walk \ 2 cars via Glencoe village. 2/ We'll take tents and money, camp at Red Squirrel and then get ap...

Aonach Eagach Ridge

Had been planning to do this one for ages, and since Scotland was having a spell of good weather, decided Saturday was the day. So with younger brother in tow, we left Stirling at 6.30 and were out on the hill at 8.15. There was already a group in the car park (we parted near Allt na Reigh) waiting ...

Ochils - Burnfoot Wind Farm

Not a walk report proper, but being bored on Thursday night decided to go and have a look see at the construction activity north of Alva where the existing track is being widened and flattened, and the power cable is being laid that will connect the windfarm to the national grid at the substation ne...

Re: Leeches(?) in the Green Lochan

My six year old daughter would have *freaked* had she went for a paddle and came out with one or more of these things attached!

Leeches(?) in the Green Lochan

On a visit to the Green Lochan in Glenmore, me and the kids counted 20 odd leeches at the waters edge all the way round. Well...we thought they were leeches but wondering if anyone more knowledgeable here can confirm? If they are, then what on earth do they live on?! http://lh5.ggpht.com/_opGcSV_mnq...

Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime 200610

The walk has been described by better writers than me, so this is mostly pictures. What a day for it today... Left Succoth at 0715 hoping to avoid the worst of the heat, but with limited success; was pretty warm even then. Thought the warm weather over the previous few days would keep the midges dow...

Re: Cuillin Maps

In a shameless bit of self promotion I am selling my Harveys map on ebay - currently 99p and no bids. Listed as "Harveys Superwalker Skye : The Cuillin 1:25000", item number 230487331777.

Apols of this is against board rules, but was too big a coincidence to let pass...

Aonach Eagach ridge and public transport

Three of us are planning to go up on Friday and ideally only want to take one car. Ideally we'd leave the car in Glencoe and get a bus back to the start of the route. The Citylink website implies that the buses will drop you off at any reasonable point. But before we entrust our long planned day to ...

Creise and Meall a'Bhuiridh

Due to visions of Bank Holiday hell on the roads, I perhaps overcompensated and left Clackmannanshire before 6am, and was setting off from the ski centre at 7.30am(!). http://lh3.ggpht.com/_opGcSV_mnq4/S97dKQw7dLI/AAAAAAAAZzM/m3Z7NBn3Vi0/s640/P5030350.JPG http://lh5.ggpht.com/_opGcSV_mnq4/S97dMiFYMz...
