Re: Great Glen Way, Fort William to Drumnadrochit
Three of us walked the Great Glen Way in 4 days in 2012. 25 miles, 25 miles, 10 miles and 20 miles. Two things I learned very early in my long distance walking experiences was to use a bag-carrying service and carry Compeed plasters. I also grease all moving parts to prevent chafing and soreness. I ...

Speyside Way, the 'wrong' way, with a difference
History: In 2013 four of us walked the East Highland Way from Fort William to Aviemore. The finishing point was the noticeboard for the start/finish of the Speyside Way, close to Aviemore Station. From then on I determined to take on the Speyside Way one day. Logistics: There is some debate as to wh...

Re: A solo WHW the leisurely way (B&B & baggage transfer)
A fascinating and interesting account of the WHW. It makes me realise why the decisions I made when I walked it in 2016 were so important. Always walk early. Six out of seven days we started at 6am. Meant finishing much earlier and time to get wet clothing dry. Never do it in midge season. Early to ...

Walking the Speyside Way over 6 days in April 2019. Starting at Aviemore and finishing at Buckie. Hope the weather is kind.

Re: Arran Coastal Path
Two of us walked the Arran Coastal Way in May 2018. There is a bag-carrying service based in Brodick, run by the vicar and his wife. We walked anti-clockwise and took 5 days. The first day was 17 miles. My son-in-law decided to go over Goat Fell while I took the low level route to Sannox. Apart from...

Re: West Highland Way In Two Days
Whatever you do make sure you walk the stretch from Rowardennan to Beinglas Farm in daylight. Decide between the Conic Hill or low level route early.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.

Re: WHW (or Teletubbies putting themselves in the way of bea
I have always referred to the climb out of Kinlochleven as the Mamore Ridge climb as, once at the top, you are more than half way up 13 Monroes of the Mamore range. Hope this helps.

Re: WHW June 2017 - Logistics Questions
The Iron Chef in Milngavie is also the base of the Travel-Lite, bag-carrying, company so should be easy to locate and contact.

Re: West Highland Way Failed Attempt
Education is a wonderful thing and you're never too old to learn. I failed on my first attempt on the WHW, attempting to complete it in 5 days, at 20 miles a day. Not a good idea. Since then I have always gone for the 7-day option and taken advantage of a bag-carrying service, just having a little ...

Re: West Highland Way April 2017
Hi Nick70, Fair play to you for carrying, or attempting to carry, so much stuff. I have already walked the Great Glen Way. Not as scenic, or as long, as the WHW but still pleasant, except we walked it in four days. Sadly I also missed out on my review my biggest recommendation. I always set out earl...

Re: West Highland Way April 2017
Hi Nick70, I found your account of your recent WHW experience most entertaining. Having taken this on four times, the last time in April 2016, I can empathise with some of your situations. You don't say how old you are and your reasons for wild camping or carrying your own gear. I have some observat...

Re: The West Highland Way - Solo hike
I walked the WHW in April 2016 with three friends. We were all amazed just how many solo female walkers we encountered along the route. One was a lady from Glasgow, about 50-60 years old, whilst another was in her early twenties. There is never a shortage of company, assistance and advice. Enjoy the...

Re: West Highland Way 4 Days in Nov 2015
I really enjoyed reading your report, particularly as we had walked Tyndrum to Fort William over 3 days one October and recalled how early it gets dark at that time of year. I have also arranged to take on the WHW over 7 days in April this year and all of my accommodation is booked and arranged. You...
