Ae Waukin' O' - Queensberry from Mitchellslacks

This should have been a very straightforward wee walk, but it turned into something more of an adventure than I’d anticipated, due to a combination of zero visibility and some very mysterious happenings involving my pocket compass and my Blackberry phone  ... little did I suspect that I’d be ...

Re: Sgor na h-Ulaidh, Beinn Fhionnlaidh & Beinn Sgulaird

My word, thon's an epic trip  ! Impressive. I knew it was possible to do h-Ulaidh and Fhionnlaidh together, but hadn't heard of anyone going for the hat trick and throwing in Sgulaird as well :o ... lovely photos too :D . Very jealous - I'd never get permission from my wife for this much of an...

Re: Western Glen Rosa: there's a Nuis loose aboot this hoose

enjoyed your TR, me and gang are hoping to set foot on Arran at some point this summer, your report has wetted my appetite and look forward to seeing the sites for myself, not sure how the mutts will fair on the ferry, hope they have sea faring legs   It's a big boat and seems to be fa...

Bein Luibhean: a quick one after work

My wife was off to her Book Group on Wednesday night, and the kids were away to various Airts and Pairts for the week, so I took the rare opportunity for a wee bit of summer walking post-work. Of do-able smaller hills that are an easy drive from Glasgow, Beinn Luibhean looked a good option, with a c...

Re: Ben Lomond - my first Munro

Congratulations on your first one  ! I bet you're hooked very quickly - most people are...
I ended up climbing Ben Lomond about 5 times before I got round to doing any of the others  - don't knock it; it's a great hill, mind - anyway, hopefully you'll make more rapid progress :D !

Re: Beinn Luibhean dash

Nice report as always, Kev! Thon's something of a scary close-up though :wtf: . Luibhean is a nice wee hill I'd say - I did it after work this week; it has great views and makes an ideal evening outing from the fleshpots of Glasgow. It's quite possible to be up and back down inside of 3 hours, even ...

Re: Beinn Luibhean

Really lovely sunset photies there  - you obviously got a great evening for it weather-wise.
I just did this one after work - I'd say Luibhean is a seriously under-rated wee hill; it has great views and is ideal for an evening walk in the summer.

3 out of 4, nae photos and a broken trekking pole..

Probably not my most successful outing - only 3 Munros out of a planned 4 (we had a fail on Carn Corm :( ), I snapped one of my trekking poles and I also managed to forget my camera, hence no photos  - probably therefore not much of a Walk Report, but here goes anyway :? . I hadn't been a prop...

Re: Ben Lui, plus Donald Duck's other three Munro nephews

Excellent round bobble hat. We were baking over on Beinn a'Chochuill and Beinn Eunaich yesterday – not sure I would have managed these four in that heat! 8) Aye, it was hot all right - can't complain though :) - it's not often we see it like that. Once we were up Lui the route stayed fairly high fo...

The Famous Ptarmigan

The start of a whole precious week off work, and I was hoping to get some walking done ... and lo and behold, believe it or not, the weather forecast was starting to look very encouraging :D . Shurely shome mishtake... Anyway, I didn’t take twice asking and decided to have a look at the Tarmachan Ri...

The Wee Jubilee Herdsman

A Diamond Jubilee, and a strangely timed Public Holiday on the first Monday in June ... what better way to celebrate it, I was thinking, than to climb a hill or two :D ? Being based in the central belt (as most walkers are, I’d suspect, statistically speaking), my Munros to date have pretty much rad...

Western Glen Rosa: there's a Nuis loose aboot this hoose!

I had an invite to go over to Arran for the day to do a bit of walking and then have dinner with my aunt, uncle & cousins, who were all staying in one of the lodges at the Auchrannie Hotel for the week – very nice! One of my cousins was initially going to join me for the walk but he is a redhead...
